As for ingredients; i never sell nothing because i never need to. Ingredients dont take inv weight and i'm always swimming in gold without even trying to, so no need to sell them. However if you are somehow short on gold it probably worth to try to keep the rares ingredients and sell the rest.
you don't have to make duplicates of anything, nor have to loot treasure chests.. Once you get to toussaint, you'll run into a merchant who will direct you to the locations of each set.
as far as ingredients.. the grandmaster sets require unusual metals in the craft process. just hang on to anything you come across during your journey, and you should be fine. another note: Aside from the Manticore and Wolf grandmaster set.. the other 3 need to be built into.. in other words, you have to slowly build the basic armor and sword, then upgrade them to the 'enhanced' version, and then into the 'Superior' version, and then into the 'mastercrafted' ... and only then will you be able to qualify for the 'grandmaster' set.. so you can start crafting these now until you reach toussaint.
There are actually two sets that have a slightly different item list, and those are the two story dungeon/choices-related armor sets of Tesham Mutna and the other one whose name I can never remember... anyways, the black one and the red one.
For those, there are no Silver Swords in that set; you need to instead equip the corresponding mask for each set, if you want the full 6 piece bonus.
Yes, the two 'Vampire' Armors: Tesham Mutna (black one) and the 'Hen Gaidth' (Red 1992 Dracula movie looking) armor. These two also have set bonuses.
Actually, you'll come across several non-witcher swords (both silver/steel) with higher damage outputs,, but the set bonuses sometimes, if paired correctly with your build (mutations and skills) will often times give you better results in combat. -- having said that, the Aerondight silver sword is sure hard to put down.
Well, incidentally, you can also get the best (in lore-terms) Silver Sword in Beauclair (B&W addon) as well, or rather, you can get it back.
That one pairs well with the pretty cool Bonus from the Hen Gdaith (cheers, dantès) Steel Sword.
While Grandmaster Witcher Silver Swords can have a slightly higher DPS than the mythical Silver Sword from Beauclair, I still prefer the latter for its unique effect, and let's not forget, its gorgeous 3D model, which matters to me a lot in cutscenes actually.
You'll have to wait for it, sadly. It's only available in that DLC, and getting it requires a quest. But once you DO get it, it's worth the wait. In the meantime, Witcher School gear can fill that void. The weakest version of the Griffin School gear opens up at level 8, I believe. The maps that lead you to the diagrams are sold by the armorer in Midcopse, which you visit as part of the main quest.
It takes longer than that. According to the wiki, it takes about 5 days worth of meditation or waiting for merchants to get their gold supply back. Another way to do it, one that's quicker if you're dealing with blacksmiths or armorers, is to buy all the repair kits you can. This usually refills that merchant's cash enough so that you can sell at least some of your armor pieces.
I however really like that fact, as anything else wouldn't have fit the world at that time.
After all, the entire North is at war with both Nilgaard as well as with itself, and we've all seen the state of major regions like Velen, the fact that most carts get robbed or attacked by monsters than actually make it safely to their destinations, and so it is only logical for inventories to stay roughly the same for significant amounts of time.
I have found it more useful to destroy high level loot for rare ingredients, and sell low level loot which only gives iron and leather.
