I have some quick questions regarding swords , pls help
1- Does the red "-3" with a hammer near the damage indicate that the item's ACTUAL damage is now 27-33 (subtracts 3 from both min and max) because it's not at top repair condition?

2- What does the "+29 bludgeoning damage" actually mean? That 29 extra damage will be done with the "bludgeoning" characteristic? That is, the mace's real damage is actually almost twice what the "30-36" leads you to believe? Or is that damage 29 damage ALREADY INCLUDED in the "30-36" indication somehow?

3- How do I know what enemies are weak to bludgeoning or not?

4- What will happen if the durability runs out? Does the item disappear from my inventory? Or becomes unusable until I repair it? Or remains usable just fine, only with heavily reduced damage?

The lack of tutorial on how to interpret stats is frustrating. Thanks to whoever can enlighten this!

1- it compares with your equipped items, -3 means worse than your item 3 damage
2- witcher mainly use swords, u could ignore those
3- don't care, just slash
4- only damage/armor reduced, when you get below 40% it's really bad already.

yes, u could say that, but some armors/trousers provide resistance against those kind of damages!! So, I was thinking that should I prioritize armors with these resistance ability or only go with the most armor supported equipment??

basic armor is a fixed value for each level, the better the bonus resistances the better the armor, but best is the armor near your levels with high bonuses
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

+29 bludgeoning damage" actually mean that 29 extra damage will be done with the "bludgeoning" characteristic, That is, the mace's real damage is actually almost twice what the "30-36" leads you to believe, and is that 29 damage is not ALREADY INCLUDED in the "30-36" indication somehow, because the full number will be substracted to those with 0% bludgeoning resistance maybe

I believe that the devs intended to do more on these different damage types, as you have different types; slashing/piercing/bludgeoning. You see this in armor as well. If you don't have resistance against piercing, then you can guess that weapons with piercing effect will hurt you more. So I think that by splitting up the base damage with these damage types, you have a result where the base damage is being matched against your general armor value and that these specific types are then being reflected against your specific resistance.

Let's take that piercing damage as example: 100 + 20
(please note that this is not the exact formula, just showing the general view)
-> on 60 armor without piercing resistance:
vitality to remove = (use basic formula with 100 and 60) + (additional formula with 20 and 0)
-> on 60 armor with 10% piercing resistance
vitality to remove = (use basic formula with 100 and 60) + (additional formula with 20 and 6)
The 6 is from doing 10% on 60 armor.

...

Ya know. I was going to lookup if someone has checked the damage scripts yet, or even did some research and I discovered something interesting. I found this reddit question from five years ago aaaannnd its content is EXACTLY the same as what you have written in that question of yours.

Wtf?

Requoted your post;
