Major problem with Ciri
I adore this game, years will pass before I get tired of it.

Yet, at certain points it proves to be horribly unbalanced. Major example: Ciri's fight with the Crones. I'm doing a Death March run and having srs hard time going through this episode.

Let's leave aside the fact that a great deal of actual gameplay is devoted to Ciri. That's not so annoying since the battles don't last long. However, Crones is a boss fight and Ciri's not cut out for it. She has no vitality regen, no shield, nothing really except for the multiple teleport attack which doesn't deal as much dmg. 3 hits are enough to get you killed.

This has got to be the worst ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I've come across for years now. How could they ♥♥♥♥ it up so bad? Why isn't there an option where Geralt may fight the Crones while Ciri deals with Imlerith?

I think that there is an option. I'm not positive, but I believe it depends on the dialogue you have with her when you are doing the 'rock, paper, scissors' thing. In the dialogue, Geralt makes the decision on who he fights. I've played through that part on Deathmarch a few times, now, and while it is tricky, You just have to be patient, try to avoid getting hit, do NOT rush, dodge around a lot, try to hit from behind as much as possible, only do one to three hits each time, and it's doable. I found my biggest issue was a lack of patience.

It's not so bad. Just keep spamming dodge.

My biggest annoyance with ciri is that her combat is just uninteresting compared to geralt's, no signs, no bombs, no blade oil, just dodge and slash. The fact that she regenerates hp at an absurd rate and deals way more damage per hit does not help either, the final chapter when you play as ciri fighting the hunt in skellege is the worst example of her play style.

More annoying though whenever you are forced to play as her, it will remove any decoctions from geralt but not refresh his supply of them, often your not able to rest to replenish them either. Particularly grating in the kaer morhen fight if you've gone with an alchemy build.

I agree. It really grinds my gears when they start making me play Ciri. She is such a one trick pony. She makes me die inside every time she dies.

It's such a big oversight to make her so inadequately inept at fighting, after all she was raised and trained by Witchers so it's absolutely infuriating to play her.

This. I loathe the sections playing as her. Especially when I play with difficulty mods. Her sections fly in the face of the gameplay loop that cdpr spent well over a decade establishing. I have a sinking feeling they are going to trot her out at some point as well for a follow on title. She was critical to the story so I get why, but damn I hope she goes the way of the dodo

I too have a feeling ciri will be the focus of the next witcher game, honestly i'd be fine with that providing they flesh out her gameplay more, could easily swap out the witcher signs for other forms of magic, obviously she couldn't drink the witcher potions but bombs and oils should be fine. I'm sure there are other avenues to take to improve ciri's combat, building upon what she is capable of, slowing or stopping time seems pretty plausible. I just hope that when the time comes she gets a decent overhaul and is more interesting to play than in the wild hunt sections.
Ciri becomes a witcheress in the end, she chooses the Path over ruling as a Nilfgaardian pawn. It's only logical if she would be fully equipped with all of Geralt's abilities and assets plus a solid magic skill tree. A good idea for the next game is to have Geralt and Ciri as main playable chars from the very start - just like with Corvo and Emily in Dishonored 2. I wouldn't mind that in the least.
