Can't get into Bloody Baron's castle

I can't get into the Bloody Baron's castle in spite of repeated attempts.
Went to main gate, did not pay guard his requested bribe. First mistake.
Went to town below, to bar, talked to bartender. Soldiers came in, confronted me, wanted money. I left.
I talked to old man in village and I refused to pay the bribe he asked for . (See bad pattern here)?
I researched the cave along the river and found it clogged with wood and two guards arguing about who would clean it up.
Went back to town at same time of night when I talked to old man who asked for money. Old guy was gone, bar was gone, soldiers in bar were gone.
Obviously, I need to work on my bribe paying skills. But, now how can I get into the castle so the quest can continue.Yikes!!!

Use aard on the stuff outside the cave. :)

Go to the bridge of crow's nest (or sometihng like tahat it's name; it's baron's caste), dive into the water and go to the left of the bridge. If I am not mistaken, there will be an underwater cave entrance somewhere. follow that path.

I finished this game over and over again, and each time I went from that cave without doing anything extra or paying anyone, and talked directly to the Baron. I don't know how else I can help.

look for a cave near the water, it will be some where on the left of the main bridge when coming up to the castle...(sorry if im vague) there is a well entry point.

I suggest, u first complete the Hunting Witch quest. which will lead you to CrockBag bog for the first time, then upon completion go to baron.

And there is no glitch in the quest either. If you try to enter his castle through cave before that inn-keep sequence(Roadside Crossroad Inn baron's henchmen interact scene) , u will always find that baron's men are there to clear the passage, the game itself is made this way.

And until you fail to enter the baron's village through main gate u can not initiate any interaction with that old guy who wants money. Although if you gave him crown, u would have earned some XP too !!!!

I guess you already have entered his castle !!

OK. I can NOT get to see the Bloody Baron. From researching I understand this is an extremely important quest. So, that said, I'm thinking about starting the game over. Don't really want to but I can't see a choice. I've finally remembered some things I did right before Bloody Baron and they can't be undone because, hey, that's the whole point! So, unless someone has a better idea, off to Kaer Morhen for re-training:)

Dive under the water to enter the cave and explore it to find the entrance to the well, making sure to watch out for the water hag that spawns here. Immediately upon exiting the well a cut scene will occur that will introduce Geralt to the Baron and start a conversation.

The cut scene isn't starting? If you killed his men at the inn it's considered the forceful path to get into him.
