how to farm greater mutagens for endgame mutation?

it's been a hot minute sinse iv'e played this, I'm level 47 and have started a ng+ only problem is i can't use the aard sign upgrade that freezes enemies because i dont have enough greater mutagens to unlock it.

soo, what's the best way to farm them?

there really isnt an easy way unless you use mods or dev console. typically, you get those mutagens prepared before activating NG+ -- (those RED greater mutagens are tough to collect). no easy way but to grind.

Thats annoying. I dont want to get audited again so I better stick to killing drowners

You fast travel to places where monsters who drop them keep respawning. Blue and green are easy, red ones are a bit rare.

Drowned Dead drop mutagens 100% of the time. Approx 44% Blue 33% Red 33% Green
These are good areas to farm if you know how spawn areas work. Get just outside the area, let them come to you and do not enter spawn area. Game should spawn more as you kill them off.

and btw, the cloud safe are a godsend another testament to the quality of this game even 5 years after!

Audited? Are you talking about the quest guy in Oxenfurt when you get over a certain amount in coin? Just lie to him and say you are a saint when it comes to things and poor of course.

There's a place near the bottom of the main map near (south) the Brook orphans hut/village that spawns a Chort or fiend. Lots of Endrega that respawn. I found a number of red mutagens there.

Also endriaga drones, they often drop red, but of course they are much more dangerous as drowned dead. Best spot is the big forest near the druid cove on the main isle at Skellige
