Skellige gwent deck sucks!
Im only one who hate that new deck? Especially if i must play it on gwent trunament in toussaint. Whit my NR deck i lose maybe 1/100 games but with skellige its only luck.
If you dont have cerys or berseker+mushroom you lost.
Units are low without any special effect and without any spies you have no chance against Nilfgard or NR....

Normally I just swap to the next deck every time I play Gwent so I can play with each faction.

Basically you are correct, Skellige deck depends a lot on your luck. You want Cerys to be on your hand (obviously) but none of her Shield Maidens. You want at least 2 Clan an Craite Warriors. You want Kambi. You want exactly 1 Light Longship. And Clan Dimun Pirate. If you get these, you are going to win, but you rarely get all of these. You sometimes get none of these.

Also Skellige faction special ability is to get 2 random cards from your graveyard back on the battlefield when third round starts. No hero cards of course. But if you get lucky, you get back some strong cards, still totally random and again completely about luck.

I just do not bother with Mardroeme mushroom boost, there are too many luck factors involved to make it useful.

My Skellige deck has exactly 22 unit cards:

King Bran as Leader - units only lose half the strength in bad weather
Heroes - Geralt, Ciri, Yen, Triss, Hjalmar, Mysterious Elf, Cerys, Ermion
Specials - 1 x of each Decoy, Commander's Horn, Scorch, Clear Weather, Torrential Rain
Siege - none
Ranged - Olaf, Clan Dimun Pirate, 3 x Light Longship
Melee - Villentretenmerth, 3 x Clan an Craite Warrior, 3 x Clan Drummond Shield Maiden, Birna Bran, Kambi

Just finished toussaint gwent turnament in normal difficulty and it was a real nightmare for me especially versus the niefgard opponent where he can play spy card and of course always get dismiss card (don't remember their name - crused land or something like that and the card with the dragon human-form with the 2 zerikania women).

So skellige faction card is fun to play cause you can get hight amount of damage but like you said it's a lot of gamble and versus nielfgard or north you get low luck of win in long term.

totally agree OP... skellige deck is a piece of ♥♥♥♥.

doing the tournament on dm and nilfgaard is wrecking me every. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, time.
course its so great i have to replay the first guy to get there...
it's just kind of stupid that you have to rely so heavily on luck with this faction.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ deck in the game, hands down :P

Dunno what is NR deck... but Skellige deck is the most fun deck to play in game. It is also the most strategic. But if you looking for deck which almost always wins, go for Northern Realm...

But to be honest, at start i disliked Skellige deck, but after i was forced to use it at tournament... i now play only Skellige deck.

i finally beat that nilfgaard dude, i luckily got 2 decoys and my elf spy so i could use his spies against him, and i got my 3rd decoy from one of them. i found i had to win 1st round no matter what cos he just baits you in the 2nd if he wins the 1st. was also lucky and got cerys, i played heroes in the first and kept cerys and a commanders horn for last.

@zangori- NR is northern realms i think

Ya, Skellige is probably my least favorite - very irritating. If it's driving you nuts in the tournament, can always enable the console to just auto win at Gwent. :)
