Am I insane or is this the most overrated game ive ever played
Obviously im gonna get flak for this literally posting this on the games page but... The combat is awful, the difficulty is either way too easy or ridiculously hard, moving around feels clunky, healing requires you to grind and can be very limited, most gameplay elements that aren't talking to people arent that great other than detective stuff. But thats not enough to save the package for me personally. At worst this is a below average game in every faceit other than the dialogue and graphics. At best its a pretty good choose your own adventure novel.

it is overrated. It has gotten way too hyped by the community. Vanilla more or less only got the non gameplay department going for it. Need mods to make the rest above average quality.

Not to mention the amount of bugfixes from mods lmaoo, several hundreds.

It's definitively the first alternative - unless it's your first game ever.

I waited until recently to play this game and I describe it as being a Breath of Fresh Air.

It does everything well and most things it does Superbly with the story, c&c, dialogue and writing being up there with the Best ever in a video game.

I quickly realized that, as usual, those who whineNcry about its combat and “clunky” movement were engaging in severe embellishment, personal wishlists and not accepting the game as it was designed.

It has great balance and progression and never for any reason have I had to “grind” any aspect of the game.

Like ALL games its not perfect, but, Its an obvious Masterpiece.

I get that combat isn't the focus but the so called "game of the decade" should be more than an interactive novel. That's just my opinion and I would take Portal 2, Breath of The Wild, Skyrim, Mass effect 2, Mario galaxy 2/Odyseey, Dark souls 1 and 3, Bloodborne, Hollow Knight, (etc) EVERY TIME over this game.

You didn't provide any counter arguments other than calling me insane. I think you are blinded by the undeserved praise in my opinion.

Its all subject of preferences...One will adore this game other will hate...For me its good game with a good story. Well game sold well and got some fans over this past few years its simply logical that some people will not like it ...

only you can decide that in the end.

First x i played it, i nearly didn't even finish the training part, it felt so clunky an awkward, I got pretty steamed, I stuck with it, as i fought, it got easier. As open worlds go I've deffo played better, the overall game play is go here kill that next task, but how is that any different from Skyrim or Fallout?

I think the stating confuse's a lot of people, it's not the most straight forward system, and takes several levels and planning to get a "decent" char. The fighting is no different then Skyrim neither, swing ya sword an cast spells till opponent is dead.

I also think that people forget, it's set in the 13th C and they play heavily into that with the dialog and action. Unlike the Fallout games where you don't really have a sense of time.

I brought it cos it was on offer, and IT IS a fun game to play, treat it as in a class by it'self.

Glad i'm not the only one who thinks like that. Feels like they put more hours to voices, dialogues and graphics rather than gameplay. Story is superb
I'm not a huge MMO fan

I'm more confused with people making these posts. I don't frequent this particular forum, but I swear, every time I look, someone feels like they need to say the game is overrated and for people to rant about how they agree.

Not saying other games aren't like this, but this is, for me, the only place on Steam I constantly see these kinds of posts.

I'm not seeing what others see in this game.
It's a fun game but nothing great.

Maybe trolling, maybe just seeking attention of TW3 fans.

As being a connoisseur of computer role playing games since Baldur's Gate 1 was released, and pretty much played every major RPG franchise released since then, My opinion is that Witcher 3 is among the all time bests. Of course this is only my subjective opinion and OP is entitled to his.

Here is some points that in my book makes it easily the RPG of a decade. Emphasis on the RPG. This is not an action game so if they cut some corners with the action to make room in the budget for story and other RPG elemets I am totally down with it.

- Fantastic story from start to finish even the side quests have been drafted with such rich detail and atmosphere it is insane.
- Love the fighting and combat. (I played Witcher 1 and 2 so Wither 3 is a huuuuuge improvement to those previous titles)
- Characters so deep and fleshed out that few other titles can even stand in the ball park.
- The world. The dark fantasy word which is both disgusting and beautiful is top notch.
- The protagonist. Geralt well....Geralt is Geralt and Rivals even wth Drizzt.

if you only care about combat and skip every dialogue and side missions.... then this game might not appealing to you...
The base game story and environment / enemies are rather boring..
but the expansion is what makes this game shine.. in every single aspect... yes i shall repeat...
The EXPANSION of this game really outstanding in every single way.... of cos still swinging the sword in same way....

Man, this is like half the topics made for this game. I wish another word besides overrated was used.

Combat is fine. More than fine. Stop running at things and mashing buttons.

There's nothing particular hard with Witcher unless you are playing at higher difficulties and even then it's not that hard as long as you pay attention to beastiary info and which dedoctions you are supposed to be using - along with mixing in appropriate signs.

If you can't do this, then I can see where you would say it's hard; however, in that case, it's more of a you problem than the game.
