Your first play through difficulty
I haven't really played an RPG like the witcher. Closest was Breath of the wild and hollow knight, but I didn't really finish BoTW, so only hollow knight. Now, I'm playing death march for my first playthrough. So far I have like 60 deaths... but I'm advancing. Now at the blood barons castle part. Slowly, but surely
For your first playthrough what did you play on? And how do you think I'm doing?

Sounds bad. Do you have fun playing like that? Depending on answer you might want to tone down your difficulty.

it should still be severely easy even on deathmarch. Smells like next level of casual.

I play it using a mirror and my offhand with chopsticks while wearing an eye patch.

On my first playthrough (still ongoing) I've been playing on "Blood and Broken Bones" (one step below "Death March.") So far, pretty much all my 5 deaths have been due to parkour fails before level 10.

The combat in this game isn't particularly skill-intensive (it's no Dark Souls or Shinobi... fond memories of the latter from high school, heh). It is based far more on foreknowledge and preparation. Are you reading the bestiary, abusing Axii, and using appropriate oils, signs, and bombs against opponents? Are you actually dodging, rolling, counter-attacking and blocking? Luring Sirens into the water and one-shotting them with your crossbow instead of flailing at them from the deck of your boat? And above all, not trying to fight things more than 4 levels above you (i.e. with red skulls)?

The best thing you can do is not rush the main quests--level up on side missions and witcher contracts until you can take on the main quest at an appropriate level.

Also don't waste your money buying weapons and armour from blacksmiths. You can generally find far better equipment in the wild, or craft upgradeable witcher gear (green items) which tend to be better than anything else at that level.

Don't throw out/sell outdated witcher gear either--you need the old pieces to make upgraded versions.

go with normal difficulty, master game and learn how to move around and position yourself, finish game and expansions then start from scratch on death march.Fun guaranteed
Normal difficulty pretty challenging if you don't know the world of Witcher3 and experimenting on the different character buildups to check things out.

Honestly, yes. For some reason. Idk I'm wierd lol. The combat is pretty satisfying, but I feel like bc I'm taking too long, the story gets kind of fuzzy

So far my biggest problems are with fighting crowds, and the camera angles honestly don't help. If I focus on one, some of them are gonna attack from behind, and if I don't I'm gonna miss a lot of shots.
My strategy is basically, shield (quen), and pick them off 1 by 1 or 2 by 2. If my shield doesn't break, I'll use stun or axii.
I'm starting to use oils and potions, but my hoarder mentality is inhibiting that (lol).

I played rise of the tomb raider on normal difficulty and it was boring, so just didn't want this to happen here lol.
Yeah maybe should lower it, but probably gonna give it a few more hours, cause I'm starting to, albeit still a lot, die less. Maybe after another 5-10 hours I'll see if I can manage it. Hardest thing for me is crowd control, and I'm sort of under leveled because of the difficulty. Any tips?

If you're having fun, then what gives? Consider doing extra preparations for tough fights (or any really), like applying oil, drinking potions, maintaining and optimizing your gear. Actual preparations and correct tactics can drastically decrease difficulty of encounters. Like I legit killed Noonwraith without Yrden first time because I wasn't bothered to read and prepare stuff. Gosh it took a while. During new playthrough on the other hand, she got totally destroyed in matter of seconds :)
Make sure not making too long breaks between play session so you don't lose the track of story :D

Cool. One more thing. any crowd control tips? My strategy is basically, shield (quen), and pick them off 1 by 1 or 2 by 2. If my shield doesn't break, I'll use stun or axii. But that often fails when fighting 6+ enemies

Northern Wind bomb or Yrden.. both are my favorite.

but yrden's area of affect is so small. It's hard effectively use, of am I missing something?

first time playing this game. I always heard that this was a good game, goty quality, blah blah blah... man what a **** game. Tedious af, you have to travel to 2-3+ towns to get enough supplys (food to recover hp) for 1 mission, swords break so fast and again if you didnt buy like 3+ kits, youll probably have to reload or go back 1 hour ago.

Im on this mission following an elf hologram or whatever the f*** and its so long. I ended up fighting against this giant axe ogre/orc looking guy. low hp, no food, both swords broken... and If I want to do it good I have to go back like 1+ hour. Seriously nice f**ng game. is not even on hard difficulty.

Oh and almost forgot, I did like 5 quest. 3 of them bugged and had to also reload or go 30min back... so frustrating man.
One more thing... looks like this game is kinda grindy, I tried following the main quest only and ended up in a high level zone, fighting lvl 10 mobs while im level 3. Really? single player grindy game?

I only have one play through. I started on Death March all the way. So many deaths by be killed and fall to death even drown. Admittedly, I was having a very hard time at start. I could have done it on lower difficulty so. Surely the game isn't a soul-like game. If anything I've learned from the beginning.. "Never pounce on an advantage as soon as it appears. Wait till it stands to have maximum effect." It's an argument between Ciri and Vesemir had in Geralt's prophetic dream.

Early game proves quite to be challenging. Patience is the key. Trading with monsters will only result your healing foods and potions to be empty. Gourmet skill isn't very useful in the long run but it is a single skill proved to be strong enough for its worthy, in my opinion. So you don't run out healing supplies. Potions of Clearance uses to reset skill points. Roll and dodge will become part of your flashy move. Mastering your monsters knowledge is key. Mastering signs like Yrden and Quen can be beneficial choice in Death March journey. Sell stuffs and save your coins. Feel free to use any lesser runes early. The game can be completed without using any runes.

Mid game, you will become so strong that make you doubt you're even on Death March. That's when you've passed Death March.

End game. If you don't know what to do your gold. Sink them at Runewright (Heart of Stone expansion). Congratulations in advance.

Oh, you must do Gwent!
