Its very tricky to use but there is some.
The thing is, Geralt has very light footsteps. So if you just walk and do not run, you can come up behind enemies without them noticing you. Its possible. I will not say its easy and its very situational. But its possible.
I like to find my way into the back of some unsuspecting drowner and just blast igni in his back lol Roasted!!! :)
Its obviously much easier to do this with single enemies vs groups.
But its also not impossible to approach groups of enemies without their notice. You can come in range to launch a bomb for instance. This is possible.
Just have in mind that if you run they will listen to you. If you walk, you do not make much noise. You are not invisible but if you manage to approach them from behind, they often do not turn to see you in time.
My advice is:
Examine the map before arriving. Use witcher senses to realize where enemies are. Spot if you have some high ground from where you can see the enemies and how they are facing / what they are doing. Walk slowly as you come close.
Its often possible to surprise enemies. They do not see you coming till you are very close.
Sometimes I am stopped in plain sight where I can see them and they do not see me :)
In fact, this is how I explore "?" on the map. Sometimes I get close to see what enemy is there and what level it is. I think if I can kill it.....if I am not confident, turn around and will be back at higher level.
