Witcher 3 on steam to PS5.. forget about it.
I don't even know if Xbox, Nintendo, or Sony allow publishers to do something like that at all.
Hell, I own games on Xbox digitally that are available on the Windows store that I'm required to buy again if I want to play.
PS: Ehh, that's a bit sad to pay for the same game once again. I'd just connect the PS contoller to my PC (it's possible), but the specs of my PC aren't the shiniest, so I thought maybe I could enjoy witcher one more time on brand new ps5 with new graphics possibilities and all that... now I'm thinking if it worth paying yet again for the game I already have to revive the experinece I had some time ago... feels a bit wrong, you know...
I understand where you are coming from, however while it in essence is the same game, different people worked on different versions, they still need paying, bills still need to be paid. While its a little easier these days in terms of many assets can be shared. There is still a lot of work involved in different versions.
Its not a new concept. Its been this way since gaming began.
