Hey,
we've added support for Simplified Chinese. We had to add Simplified Chinese strings file, update the executable and one of patch.bundle files for that.

If you had mods installed it may happen that this update resulted in game not starting. It's due to the fact that if Steam sees an update, it compares the files you have with the files on servers and overrides them if there's a difference. So your mod scripts could be overridden. If you install your mods once more the game should work, as we didn't change scripts and their relation to code.

Cheers

You have to reinstall the whole game if you get the check error, repair by steam is useless. Thanks for this useless and destroying patch! And no i didn't use any mods!

Why exactly does Steam still not allow you to not update games?
Lyciana 6. nov. 2018 kl. 9:19
reinstall means the whole 50+ GB!

they did in the past, you can say thank you to the mulitplayer game players who deactivated auto updates for their multiplayer games and who flooded valve with complains about that their multiplayer games stopped working.

valve took the easy way out and simply removed the option to never update a game back then.

Thanks but please consider using the News feed for your game so it's easy for players to keep track of what updates include.

Well, after the patch, when I start the game the following window pops up :

Hook: MatchesCountCheckError

pattern: 48 8B 05 ??? 01 C1 C6 44 24 30 01 89 4C 24 28
found: 0 expected: 1

I checked the game via Steam, it downloaded 1 broken file, but the message still pops up.

More confusing : when I click "OK" on that message, the game won´t start. If I leave the message alone, the game starts and I can play it ?!? Any ideas ?
i get the same error

If you get the hook error, go to folder
Steam\steamapps\common\The Witcher 3\bin\x64

and rename file dsound.dll to dsound2.dll

This will remove the error message.

Yeah, thanks for ruining the game - seriously, freaking stupid: I had mods that required a lot custom tweaking to get working - now that you force a stupid update like this for everyone all the hard work is ruined. :steamfacepalm:

I´m using no mods on that game.

System :

Win 10 Pro 64 Bit 1803
nVidia GeForce 1060 6GB Driver 416.34

Same here. No mods installed.
Why on earth isn't this optional? Why would I like to have simplified Chinese in my version of the game? :steamfacepalm:
If it now makes me uninstall and redownload the whole game I am gonna get furious... :steamsad:

already test it, doesn't fix the error, only a complete reinstall has fix it.

All I did was to rename that 1 file and error was gone. Did not have to download whole thing.
