It really IS tough to get comfortable with, the controls/combat is just ...weird and overly complicated.

I found myself losing interest during the game, would go for a few days up to a few weeks without playing, and that was my first (and only) playthrough

I felt the same way when I first tried it.You'll get used to the game.

Yeah i thought buying on steam would boost me to play cause of tradeing cards and achievements but its no different than my gog version.

Its different for every person i personally got used with the game from the start but some of my friends never managed to get used to it

Honestly, I've finished the story and all of the DLC on my Galaxy Client. Bought the GOTY edition again on steam just for the sake of it. It's hard at first - but this game by itself pushed me to read all of the witcher novels and play both The Witcher 1 & 2. Loved all of it.

Don't get why this game is hard to get into especially versus a game like skyrim which imo had very wonky combat and nothing to make up for it in terms of story. When I start to get bored of roaming you can always retreat to awesome story telling and cinematics. While skyrim I never felt that about the story so it was just overall boring and never actually finished the game. Week straight playing only this game and not relenting lol.

For me Skyrim was more interesting too. It wasn't exactly easier to get into than witcher, but it just made more fun, because of all those interesting sub-plots and things that can happen if you make something different. The crafting system was better too in my opinion. In witcher3 i find myself just wearing those green set armor and swords and don't give a ♥♥♥♥ about everything else in gear. Alchemie? I craft everything 1 time and thats it. Nevertheless the witcher has some funny sub-quests too, but in my opion not as much as skyrim has.

If you would ask me if witcher3 is worth the money, i would say totaly! You can play for about 100hours and discover new things. But if i had to choose between witcher and skyrim, i would pick skyrim.

I played for 10 hours into witcher 3... mate told me to get to a certain stage ... when you get to novigrad and play for al ittle bit after you meet triss... after you get past that you really honestly get into the story etc.

played until about 13 hours and now it's 120 hours later, got the books too now aha. Skyrim was funner to talk with people etc.

But after you get to a stage in witcher 3 I found you didn't need to talk to peopel etc, enough content as there was. Great game but yeah, hard to get into man.

Honestly, when I first started playing it I was quite clueless, and confused with the combat and what not. And couldn't really get into the story.

But after I got to Velen and started to level up I found the story and combat to be very interesting.
The more you level up the more fun you have in the game!

I was really not much of a Skyrim fan like most other's, I just found the story not very interesting, and the boring combat.

But hey, it's all personal preference! You should get used to the game fast if you enjoy a lot of moster hunting and interesting combat that is.

Skyrim is like that friend who you enjoy hanging out with, That friend is likable because you can relate to that friend, Skyrim is flawed big time compared to witcher 3 but it is those flaws that make skyrim so much fun. You know in skyrim people say the same things over and over makeing it all more fun to kill everyone. Like in Whiterun when you run into Nazeem "do you get to the cloud district often, no of course you dont" and its funny because i am at the cloud district more times in skyrim than any other place, I love seeing Nazeem's head rolling around the cobble stones and his blood splattered all over his stupid clothes. Skyrim rules

For me, the only aspect of Skyrim that beats Witcher 3 is it's modding capabilities. I used to play Oblivion on xbox 360, and of course you can't mod it there, but it think it's better than Skyrim unmodded. It might be because compared to Oblivion and Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim are very similar. When Oblivion first came out, everything felt new. But when Skyrim came out, I felt like all the random shit I could do in it, I had already done in Oblivion(besides quests, of course).

Anyway, comparing Skyrim and Witcher 3 isn't exactly fair. They're aimed at slightly different audiences. While Skyrim is an excellent sandbox where you can roleplay and do whatever the fuck you want, Witcher 3 is more about the stories, the characters, the world. Skyrim doesn't have very interesting quests and characters.

There are many things I do not like about this game but I can happily play it for hours a day without getting bored. Switching it off is always because I have to do something else irl, never because I am bored.

Some games are simply not for everyone. Just because a game is popular and on so many Top 10 lists and voted Game of the Year by everyone and their nefarious brother-in-law who's the black sheep of the family doesn't mean that it will appeal to everyone equally.

What made you buy the game in the first place? The hype? The awards? Did you know anything about the story before you dove right in and bought it?

Maybe next time try doing some research about a game before buying it or watching some videos to see if it looks like something you could get into before laying down that money.
Well it was given to me free by nvidia for buying a titan x awhile back you know that time they felt bad for us people who spent 1100$ for a performance of a 980ti.
I played it on gog for a bit than i decided to buy it on steam so i can get achievements and trading cards.
As of now i feel the story is getting bland for me.
In skyrim i felt bad for the kids that i wanted to adopt the kids so they all have a home ,witcher 3 has nothing at the moment for me to keep playing.

Witcher has a really slow start, honestly, the first time I played it, I dropped it for several months and came back to it and started to really enjoy it once I got out of Velen.

As for the story, it also doesn't really pick up until half-way through Velen, but the world around Velen feels pretty sad when you look at the hanging bodies from trees, or for example, listen in to a conversation that a woman sent her children out into the woods so they could basically die because she couldn't afford to keep the rest of her family fed.
