Dont bother with exploits or cheat codes.. This game should be experienced.. not just completed for the bragging rights.. Its not a HARD game, it just gets more intense (more mobs at once).. if you read ALL the Beastiery, books and letters you come across and learn a bit of lore .. even boss fights can be OK..
Once you get into Velen.. Your cash starts to build up.. do as many of the " ? " quests as you can, thats where youll make your money..
- only spend money on armour kits / Repairs..
- 9/10 if your losing a fight, you can run outside combat/ sheathe your sword / meditate for 1 hr.. jump back in.. Mob damage/death doesnt reset... dont use Traget lock either.. . Learn and brew Potions, not food..
-Make sure you follow the "Witcher code" and take a reward for a quest... If you know your witcher Lore, then theres no advantage to turning it down and being nice, then again.. they may pay you in gems instead.. which if sold are worth alot..
- Take EVERYTHING you find from bags, chests.. anywhere and sell it.. when you steal from someones house, make sure they dont see you.. coz the guards can be a real pain.. Also, you can sell plants and flowers to a herbalist.
Its an amazing game... when played properly and thought about... but its a one of those games that is only as hard or as tough as you make it.. and when you die.. its usually your own fault.
Enjoy :)
I never bought anything which wasn't mandatory.
I personally set the price of goods at 25% from default, to make pay from contract and missions more meaningful. I suspect 10% is better tho it seems a bit extreme. At 25%, I still make money much more from selling swords from my fallen foes than doing quests/contract.
I also change the merchant's price when buying your stuff from 12% (default) to 50%. Buying my stuff at 12% and try to resell it to me at 100% is just obnoxious. By law of Recettear, fair buying price is 50-70% of the actual value.
Crowns Multiplier mod is also an option.
