LOL, comedy gold.
Maybe watch gameplay videos/1st 35 minute walkthroughs before you buy a game next time around? But to answer your question, no. Just cut to the story related quests and you'll still have to do a boatload of gameplay. Go for 100% completion and that'll be 5 times over.
Its almost like roleplaying games are not just grinding for levels and stats and are supposed to have actual roleplaying in them.
So after the first 2.5 hours there was well done but abundant cutscenes at every encounter. I see now how older isometric RPGs packed so much content in through writing. You had to read full conversations yourself.
In Witcher its like every time i talk to someone its a simulated 5 min cutscene which really pulls me out of immersion. The game seems good so far other than that. With just my first session of Witcher there was more cutscenes than gaming. Im not trolling im not lying this is simply fact.
Its just a different experience one that offers no roleplay or immersion. Its basically an interactive movie with some genre traps inbetween to make your feel like its something more.
No matter i just chill and crack some beers at least all the cutscenes and voice acting is well done but its kind of overused in every little interaction with another NPC. I would legit just like to read through these conversations in text especially for side quests and such because i read much faster than the dramatic acting on display in this game.
The reason why this game offers so many damn hours is because quests involve 5 min cutscene followed by some traveling or combat maybe, then another 5 min cutscene. Then more 5 min cut scenes depending exactly on how many people you must speak to for the quest, then another 5 min cutscene when you hand it in. Its cool that these side quests are very fleshed out but its almost too in depth and feels really slow as an action game.
If this game had an un named player character who could choose their class out of the normal rpg trends and maintained this quality of writing it would prob be the best open world RPG of all time. However you are forced to play a warrior caster named Geralt who has his own feelings and opinions........ Which removes all roleplayability.
Just think if you could play through this game as a mage or a ranger or whatever the hell you wanted rather than the most boring brainless class in rpg history.....
Maybe the devs can learn from the foundation they layed here and make a true end all roleplaying game. All that is missing is a fresh story and classes. The rest (other than combat variances with other classes) is already done so i dont see why they cant make a better game with these tools. Maybe they are too blind to see their true potential.
RPG is about system like AD&D, GURPS, etc..
computer RPGs are just transition paper RPGs systems to computer games
dont call every game RPG pls.. RPG isnt about new sword what give u chance to burn opponent and do 3 dmg more than your previous sword..
action adventure.. on other hand.. is exactly about that.. about fight, about new items, what boost your character.. games like Witcher, Assassin Creed, Middle Earth - Shadow of Mordor / War, etc.. here isnt deep char development system like in RPG.. its just about fight.. and sometime about story.. not about whole char development system like in RPG games
RPGs are for example Baldurs Gate (what is based on AD&D), Fallout 1 and 2 (what is based on own system similar to GURPS), Kingdom Come: Deliverance (based on own system)
RPG isnt only about "roleplaying" ..if it was, then u can call every game RPG. because in every game u roleplay something, or someone.. even in Tetris
