No Fast Travel Playthrough
Recently completed the game and DLC for the first time, thinking about doing a New Game Plus on Death March, wondering if not using Fast travel is a good idea? Ive heard you find some side quests just by going on the road, but then when the controls are clunky and i hate the idea of doing skellige without fast travel, anyone done a no fast travel run and know whether its good or not?

I have only used Fast Travel if I MUST travel between world maps. Am currently on my second play thru, I like to take my time and enjoy the scenery, forests, etc.

Clunky controls?

Honestly, you can traverse the world on-foot a lot faster than you think.

Skellige has those boats to make things easier too. Nothing really too bad.

I almost never fast travel in open-world games, it ruins the immersion. I usually only fast travel between maps or if I have some meta-game reason to do so (like I need to benchmark my system).

The Elder Scrolls Games cured me of fast travel once and for all. Never use it.

The only mods I'd advise you to use if you're going no fast travel is faster boat mod and roach never stops. The first one can increase the speed of boats and teh second one makes your horse never stop when you gallop in the wild, so you can't get stuck on rocks and other silly things.

I never fast travel either, and if I have to move from one map to another, I have to fast travel from a major port like the ones in Novigrad and Oxenfurt.

I don't EVER use fast travel in any game. I never fast travelled on Witcher 3 unless is mandatory.. even that.. if, for example, I'm going from Novigrad to kaer morhen, I will manually ride north until the edge of the map, which will automatically open the map for me to travel there. I never go to the little green fast travel joints. Ruins the immersion to me. Been playing Witcher 3 for the first time.. Finished the main quest and all the side quests and treasure hunter I could find without ever using fast travel. Playing Heart of Stone quests now. Yes.. it is a good idea to play without using fast travel. Fast travel is cancer.

It also can make the game more interesting as you may wanna plan your trips better. If I'm doing a quest that will take me to a certain point on the map, I would always open the treasure hunter quests or contracts to check if there was anything on the way of where I was going for said quest.
