How do I save the wight in blood and wine?

I've looked at pretty much every spoon, the mirror, the diary, the skeletons and the old letter, but still, everytime I hide, geralt just jumps out and uppercuts it with his sword. I've had the tour of corvo bianco already and I've upgraded it a bit too. Is there anything I might have missed, or that I'm doing wrong?

You should get the choice when couching in the cabinet wether to kill or try lift the curse...
I faintly remember other with your issue, so do a search of the fora to check if a fix has been found.
Other than that, try the usual things: verify games cache, disable mods and so on...

The problem was that I didn't examine the dishes on the table next to the pot. Minor detail it was the cause ^^
