The Soldier Statuette - Can not start the quest

Hello,

my current situation: I made the main sotry line, Triss is not in Novigrad anymore. Currently I'm in the mission to get the cards for Zoltan. But if I'm in the house where the statue is, i can pick it up, but Geralt says "It's bad, that i can not ask Triss." And the quest don't start.

I know i could ask Triss later in the game if I want to complete this quest. But in my case it didn't start?? Whats my mistake? Can I start the quest with the console maybe, because i can loot the quest item?

It is recommended that you complete this side quest before beginning the one where Triss helps the other wizards escape the purge of Eternal Fire. Maybe it can be done later, but you should convince her to stay, and that implies choosing her as your love option, I think.

There are many plot items that you can get that become useless (or don't trigger a quest) because you chose other options / paths and usually Geralt say something about it, like in your case ( "It's bad, that i can not ask Triss.").

Okey, I found the following information on a website:

"But if Triss is unavailable or has already left for Kovir (at the end of the quest Now or Never), then you won't be able to trigger this quest until after you've completed the quest Blindingly Obvious, which won't happen until late in the game."

Can someone verify, that the quest STARTS after this quest above?

Did you check the old house where you found it before? That leaning house that is about to fall ...

I've never completed the soldier statuette quest and completed the whole game. Now it's marked as failed for me. So I assume after a point it's unable to be done at all, and you'll have to do it again if you want to complete it in a new save file or NG+

I understand ... Well, if it's marked as "failed", there's nothing to do (without console commands), just reload a previously saved game ...

I think the best option is to wait for the quest "Blindingly Obvious". I hope the quest triggers there.

If the quest is marked "failed" then it is a point of no return ... The last chance to do the quest is after the battle at Kaer Morhen, you must go to the Chameleon in Novigrad and find Triss .

Thanks, but i should say it again. In my case the quest did not start/triggers. I have no new quest in my quest log. Nothing can fail at the moment, I try to find out why i dont get the quest if I pick up the statue.

I hope at the point in the late game is the dialog option for this quest. Like the "Play against Thaler" quast, which triggers only if i play gwint against him.

Oh I get it ... I was confused by Toastpiratewilly's comment (I didn't realize it was someone else).

What I think (I'm not entirely sure), is that this side quest must be activated before Triss tries to save the other wizards ... But it's just a thought.
