Kinda disappointed about map size
I have read a bunch of articles hyping the size of the world map, even stating that it is supposedly three times the size of Skyrim. Im right now in Velen/Novigrad, which isnt big at all. As far as i know this is the biggest map, but it doesnt even have close to the number of locations as Skyrim, not even gonna count the interior locations like caves and dungeons. Quests are comparably scarce and a big part of the map especially towards the east and south-east is empty. It is certainly bigger than Witcher 2, but after all that hype i kind of expected more. Dont get me wrong the game is great, but right now im at 35 hours and already capping out on my level specific quests, but what got me buying the game were reports about supposedly hundreds of hours of gameplay. Was that all a lie or is Skellig and Kaer Morhen map even larger than Velen/Novigrad?

I find The Witcher 3 GOTY a VERY.... VERY OPEN game and this is BIG in fact. Keep in mind that despite having completed the game several times, I still often find new things that I had never seen before, and new ways to complete certain quests with really unexpected and unexpected results ... I find that The Witcher 3 GOTY is impressive for really. I always tend to go on foot, instead of using the horse, even if only to not miss absolutely anything, and I repeat, even now after completing it several times I find funny things and some that leave me stunned by the fact that there are quests intertwined with others that give results ... crazy.
I dunno, according to Steam it took me about 300 hours to scour all of Witcher 3 and the expansions and 420 hours to do the same to Skyrim. I think some of that Skyrim time was just post-game wandering though. They both seemed huge but for some reason Witcher 3 felt bigger to me.

The Witcher 3's map uses moderation, unlike Skyrim's.
If you put a point of interest down every 10 feet like Bethesda likes to, you start ignoring them out of habit in order to get anywhere.

Good map design means keeping points of interest interesting rather than devaluing them with overuse.
I'm okay with the size as it is simply because of the excessive points of interest. I abhorred them in Skellige.
Is the size of the map really your only metric for the quality of the game?
That's a bit sad imo

Actually, I think since it was harder to use fast travel in Witcher I had to run around more which made the world seem bigger.

If you read any of my comments you would know that thats not the case. Im simply disappointed in the false expectations many people and news outlets built up. When 13 out of 15 locations are basically "finished" by pressing a single button, like looting a chest or destroying a nest, then that doesnt really feel like a lot of content to me and it doesnt make the world feel big either. I wish there were much more and especially bigger caves and dungeons. The cat potion for example is basically useless in 80% of underground locations, because you just enter the place in order to leave it in less than a minute later anyway. In the Witcher 1 i spent a lot of time underground and many of these caves or dungeons were much bigger or atleast they felt bigger.

If anything i enjoy the game so much, that i wish there was more stuff to explore and the content would burn slower.

I agree with you but what is interesting in a location where you press a single button (i.e. putting a bomb in a nest) and then never return to that location ever again?
Skyrim had a lot of these generic places and dungeons, but they were slow burning content and not rushed. If you wanted you could spend an hour in a crypt and explore everything, loot everything and perhaps fight a unique boss at the end or a new dragon shout. In Witcher 3 i havent really seen a lot of locations like that. The Keira cave was great for example. More locations like that would have been awesome.
[Skyrim] I saw my cousin play skyrim and the stars of skill tree.
It is a different game, skyrim feel much more lonely,
in comparsion [Witcher] much more humanity.

where the skills point is enough to learn most skills and it is easy to reskill.
it is easy to combine skills and have a big reward on stats.

The map was too big for me already in [witcher] when i boat to no where... but the island of tower \ and before i get the post way points that bring me quickly to go thru and enjoy the quest and story. I get used to the big maps of [witcher world] but it looks small because it is well designed.

I would say it is easy to run a map of [witcher] but it i s almost impossible to try all the conversation options and all story... you choose one person, the other gone.... it is a 3d ,4d 5d... 10 dimensional world where the world changes at your finger tips, and yes it happens really.
so it branches up and the story is very time consuming i am still not going to finish new game+

Skyrim is for those who has everything in their life already. Might try [skyrim VR] but i have no idea what the skyrim story is, i might google it.

Have you spare the time to finish Keira's awful quest before the impossible quest of finding Ciri?

and then a very romantic story with all the magic and wine under the moon and beside the river...

for all the dumbs quest fighting the wild hunts.
getting the magical green lamp and the horror of the towers.
