witcher books, the last wish ending explanation pls [possible spoilers]
sorry guys i know here is for w3 wild hunt but im sure some of you have read the books to get a better sense of the story so please someone give me an explanation for the ending of the last wish. if you have not read the first book, the followings can be spoilers so read at your own risk.

[spoilers]

the book ends with Iola handing geralt a box as their hands touch, then she suddenly sees a vision of some sort and collapses on the ground, twitching and such. later a vague conversation between nenneke and geralt transpires which i did not understand at all. what was that about? why did iola got a seizure by touching geralt? what was that vision about?

[spoilers]

someone please enlighten me. thanks.

Geralt keeps all his witcher portions in a small box in the books. You can see this in the intro scene to Witcher 1 when Geralt is lifting the Striga curse from Foltest's daughter. Nenneke tells him she replenished all his potions, and brewed him some extra medicine only she knows how to make. Iola is a psychic, and can see the past/future when touching another person. She has a vision of Geralt's death while touching him, and the image is so shocking she faints. Nenneke, while touching Iola, sees a part of the vision, and has a similiar reaction.

Geralt has seen these images in his dreams, and obviously offput by them, rebuffs Nennekes attempts to talk about them. That's basically it.

aah i see, thanks for the explanation, that makes sense. I wonder if these images of geralt's death refers to the time when yen and geralt died side by side and ciri rescued them? i remember something of sort being mentioned in w3:wild hunt.

if you google this there's old reddit post that speculates that Sapkowski later changed his mind because Iola's vision doesnt match what happens later in books.
