Constantly disconnecting controller, but the controller works fine!
So, somthing pretty strange is happening reguarding this game and controllers, i use a wired xbox 360 controller to play, just finished a whole playthrough of the witcher 2 with this controller, no issues at all, however, when i play the witcher 3, after a period of about 10-20 minutes, i will hear the sound that plays when a USB device is disconnected, my controllers light switches from player 1 to player two, and the game stops reciving input from the controller, unplugging the controller and putting it back in does not restore control, and the only way to then continue playing with controller is to save via keyboard, and relaunch the game only for it to shortly happen again.

people are likely to tell me this is a problem with my controller, but it cannot be! i've just finished the witcher 2 with no issues and even went back to it today and played an hour of arena mode to confirm it was not the controller, i had no issues once again.

my drivers are up to date, i even deleted them and re-installed just to be sure, has anyone any idea what might be causing this? i cannot stand to play games like the witcher without a controller, and this problem is sadly really killing my immersion.

I never actually found a fix to this, I put alot of time into researching this back when i posted this and found a fair few people that suffer from this, but i think i just gave up in the end and just used mouse and keyboard :(

if you do find a fix out there, please let me know!

I see that this is a very old thread, but I am currently experiencing this very same problem. I have a SteelSeries Stratus XL controller that connects fine to my PC using bluetooth. I have an Acer Predator Helios 300, and all my drivers are current. After playing Witcher 3 for about 5 or 10 minutes the controller will be disconnected. If I hit a button on the controller it reconnects but then disconnects immediately after a few seconds. This can be repeated over and over. As soon as I exit Witcher 3 and press a button on the controller, it will reconnect and stay connected. Has anyone found a solution for this problem?

Do you have a board with nahimic running in the task bar? if so make sure it is disabled at stratup and try again. I had an issue with my xbox one controller and turning of nahimic fixed it for me.

Could also be that there is an issue with the USB or controller cable, and TW2 just doesn't care and allows re connection of the controller mid game where as I know TW3 does not, to the point the controller needs to be on at the time of launching the game.

i actually re-installed the game back in early march and Still had this issue, and i'm on a newly built pc now, the only consistancy is the controller, but its been fine on every other game, even after all this time.
