Yennifer in the Show is UGLY compared to the game
I like the cast for the most part. I could list more complaints about the show but the main one that sticks with me is that Yennifer starts out with a deformity. After she transformed to supposed beauty I felt ripped off. She looks nothing like the character from the game. She looks like a man trying to be a woman with that crimson chin.

So I guess what I'm saying is props on making an animation look better than an actual person.

In fact such women like game's Yen really exist and there are such actresses. It was just their choice: tax 20% of lore for political correctness.

The paleness has also to do with being quarter elf.
Regarding the look of Yennefer the Netflix serie is not far off where it not they completely screwed up with Fringilla who is supposed to remind Geralt of Yenneffer regarding the looks. Even going so far as calling Fringilla Yennefer during sex.

Apart of that the entire part regarding the infertility due to becoming a mage makes no sense lorewise and the part where Yennefer hates the mages for taking her choice neither as she willingly did it even in the series.
In books there was no word that Yennefer were 1/4 Elve. Or at least I dont remember about it.

Yenn in books and game very beatyfull ofcourse. Thanks to natural lore of the story archeotype.

In the show she cant be beatyful, coz... coz... well, coz money.
Doesn't matter, I hate her all the same
Pretty much any woman can look ugly when you compare them to yen from the game

I just wished Eva Green to play her. What a waste
... why?

Yep shes indeed ugly. Bad casting. She also looks like a teenager which makes Geralt and Yen look like a weird couple.

I din't like Yen in the show not cos of appearence, but more cos of the character performance, She seems nothing like in the books. Might be just my imagination tho. But I also think that she is too yung looking.

Chapter 9 The Tower of The Swallow

Janka! Dear Janka!

Take this hunchbacked monstrosity from me! I don’t want to look at it!
She’s your daughter as much as she is mine.
Indeed? The children I have sired are normal.
How dare you… How dare you suggest…

It was in your elven family that there were witches. It was you that aborted your first pregnancy. It was because of that. You have tainted elven blood and a tainted womb, woman. That’s why you give birth to monsters.

It is an ill-fated child… Such was the will of the gods! She’s your daughter as much as she is mine! What was I to do? Smother her? Not tie the birth cord? What am I to do now? Take her to the forest and leave her? What do you want from me, by the Gods?

Tbh I find her ugly in the show, too. All that magic to transform into whatever beauty you want, why would you want to transform into looking like that? But that's my opinion.

Way to necro this post.

But on topic: you can't very much transform the actual actress that played the character. Her looks are above average, and saying "why would you want to be looking like that" is highly offensive to say about any person.
Don't forget when you're talking about a real human being, there can be a million reasons for thinking that an actor/actress was misscast for a role, but you can still keep it civilized and refer to them as a human.

I wouldn't kick her out of bed that is for sure

Nice necro, I suppose.

Anyway, all I'll say is if the team behind the TV show decides to hire actors that blatantly deviate from the book counterpart and how they're described, then you're inviting people to critique it even harsher.

That aside, I don't particularly find the actress that good-looking. Yennefer from the books and games? I can see why some people like her physical traits, but personality-wise? Hell no.
Being a good parental figure to Ciri aside, the johnny-come-lately's who only play the games probably just see her as a regular dominatrix type who knows how to use her looks and sex power to mould men to her whims, she's far removed from simply 'bossy' or someone who knows what she's worth and what he's worth and exploiting the imbalance. She insults Geralt's intellect constantly, gaslights him, threatens him, complains about his clothes, reads his mind against his will, makes fun of his job, refuses to explain her plans to him yet makes him carry out her orders on faith, ropes him into political alliances without his consent, etc. And the damage is done, given how unusually vulnerable and childlike he becomes around her. Reading the books only worsened my opinion of her.
