Game's way too dark
Not even Cat can help it in some cases, and carrying a torch is ineffective and annoying. I've brought the gamma all the way to max and fiddled with TV settings, but no matter what the game is consistently way too dark. To illustrate how bad, no matter what I adjust it to, the image that is supposed to be barely visable in the gamma settings is always totally imperceptible. I tried to find a mod to fix this, but turned up nothing.

Any fellow Witcher's know how to dispel this curse?

I like it that way, i hate all those "night is bright as hell" games. . .

Sounds like a display issue. The only thing I can think of is to use something like Reshade to force a higher gain on the gamma. Maybe you can look into that.

Edit: Also Nvidia Freestyle will let you use/make filters that will change contrast, gamma, etc. Only catch is you have to be an Nvidia user.

Switch TV to sRGB mode.

Is either your monitor had issue or your eye. Had them both check.

Sounds like an issue with your display itself. The game is dark, but it shouldnt be that dark.
Game options let you change the brightness. Go to Options > Gamma....
There you see the Wolf image on a dark field. Place cursor on the bar at the bottom of it and drag as you watch the change to increase brightness. I hope that helps! :mind_rose:

I would factory reset your screen it might be something unrelated to gamma settings.
There is how ever not much information provided for a troubleshoot.

Are you playing on PC with a display attached or console?

If on PC on what Windows version are you?

What display do you use and what kind of cable runs between the hardware?

Yes, it could be many causes.
This is the way I brightened my Witcher 3 game. :peaceful:
Just offering a simple way for Bird Stalker (in case s/he isn't wanting a long, involved check of other possibles).
Of course, if this idea of mine doesn't work & they still remain earnest to play this Great game, then mo' troubleshooting ideas shall be had right here in this thread, aye? :Winking:

I've noticed that it's actually decently bright in cutscenes, but slowly fades back into the abyss after dialogue/cutscenes are finished. Fairly certain it's the TV at this point. Just gotta find the setting that's making it auto adjust the brightness for some arbitrary reason.

Ah yes, the TV settings can can cause issues indeed! Lots of good tech support sites :peaceful:
I always go straight to my fave sites for my particular 'machines' ...so grateful peeps go to the trouble of answering others' questions.

I had the same problem just go in the settings and choose full screen display mode.
