how the hell do i go the quest ???

Do the other stuff in your journal that are in Velen (all remaining leads).

If you make the quest active it should point you in the right direction with waypoints. What does it currently say? I don't want to just tell you or it may ruin part of the quest for you.

Okay the "ladies of the wood" is a book you were likely given by Keira Metz. Once you read it, it should kick off another quest called "Ladies of the Wood" - You'll need to complete that quest to continue progressing the "Family Matters" quest.

Ya, two ways to read books - first I'd say check your inventory and go over to quest items and see if it's in there toward the top. If it's not, go to the area where you see the character, beastiary, etc. info (I can't remember exactly what it's titled) - one of the entries should be books that you'll need to look down through until you see it.
