How does the XP system work?

Hey,

How does the XP system work?

If I'm for example level 5 and I complete a level 8 quest do I get more XP? Or is the XP gained a preset amount? For example doesn't matter what level you are the quest still gives you 50XP.

Same goes for the enemies I kill. Does killing a level 8 monster while you're level 5 give you more X?

Higher than Geralt = more; the higher the better, but then you get over-leveled so fast, that other rewards are paltry from lower level events/targets.

Lower than Geralt = less; the lower, the harsher the penalty.

Probably best to keep everything within 5 levels of Geralt (high and low), but he still gets over-leveled anyway.

Yea I just do every quest I get and playing on the Blood and Broken Bones difficulty or what it's called and the game is pretty easy so far.

Heard the DLCs are more difficult tho

i'm not sure you get bonus for higher lvl quests. but xp surely gets nerfed to near zero for low lvl quests and kills (down to 2 exp per quest 1 xp per kill). you also get xp nerf on dm difficulty and maybe some on b&bb too. i wouldnt worry much about it iiwy.

oops, yeah, I should have slowed down and been more clear. The bonuses i mentinoned are for enemies that are higher level. I havn't tested a quest at extremely high level, reloaded and saved it to try later at normal (not much incentive and lazy).

Okay, I got curious and completed "Contract: The Tufo Monster" at level 80, NG+, Death March and got 320 XP.

Anyone have a save to complete at level ~100 and check the XP?
