Weight Mechanics
Do you enjoy them? Devs say its for "immersion". Personally i disable or mod them out immediatly. I dont mind a weight limit on gear i can wear, tied to some sort of stat you can increase. However limits on carry capacity of misc stuff? Its just a massive chore and serve no real purpose.

Thoughts?

Yeah I usually mod it out immediately too. It just feels like micro managing and I don't have the patience for that lol

im just curious on whether most people get rid of it or keep it. If the former is the case, why keep insisting on these mechanics at all?
Russty Jul 11, 2018 @ 8:11am
keep it, I never carry that much anyway and by the time you get saddlebags like the Zerrikanian ones that have 100 inventory weight letting you carry around 160 this is more than enough unless for some reason you like to cart about half a dozen sets of armor and swords which is fairly poinless.

Not particularly but i do pick up a lot of junk to sell. Also simplifies looting as i dont have to vet what i pick.

The inventory system is very silly. Geralt eventually carries a whole grocery store. It´s ridiculous

It's just your standard RPG thing. Limit on how much you can carry. That's what mods are for.

Why the hell do dev keep insisting on it, if most people mod it out?
I never modded out weight limits nor in sandbox rpgs, nor in other.
Interfaces - yeah, that's a thing i often modded (after several replays through vanilla). Game mechanics? Nah.

Muhahahaha, just overchallenged, LGalucard? No micromanagement?

I don't use any cheat-mods. Cheat-mods are created for players who believe that playing without using the cortex ends in an achievement.

Couldnt care less about achivements. I have games in PS4 with hundreds of hour and no Platinum, because i do not care about trophies. I cant be bothered to go out of my way to do some random task that offers me no more benefit than a badge saying "you did it". If it happens during normal gameplay, fine if not ? To hell with it.

Weight is just annoying and adds nothing to the game. Just like in State of Decay having to move one resource bag at a time from the trunk of your car. Its a pointless waste of time. Have to through a bunch of junk and decide what is worth keeping to sell or not, is not challenging, is tedious. I only used Witcher gear for the main game anyways, its not like i had to "decide" what to wear beyond settling on a set. Weight just added uncessary micro.

Picture Nioh with a carry weight mechanic that only allows you to carry 10% of the current max. It would be supper annoying, almost offputting. It doesnt affect combat or anything else, is just lame.

Yeah, limited carry weight is one of the worst mechanics that can plague any game. I hated limited weight 20 years ago, and I hate it now. I like how Dark Souls games handle it.

And it's especially terrible in games such as The Witcher where every gear piece/weapon/everything is junk, because of how loot system is implemented here.

Do I have to carry on and mention 2 guns limit at a time in modern FPS?

This. If the game actually had meaningful decisions to make regarding loot beyond which piece of junk will fetch slightly more gold, it would be fine. Howeve, it doesnt and just makes it a chore to make that extra trip to the nearest vendor npc to unload.

this game literally don't need mods... and for weight learn how to control it.. and there are plenty of saddles in the game, Lol... I guess if you want to over do it with half of the goofy mods, sure. but the devs did an awesome job on the machanics in this game. you can upscale or keep enemy lvls on standard (meaning zone lvls) or you can literally make enemys Garalt's lvl. smh this isn't Craprim lol you do not have to put in camping rp mods LOL. for your lil' twitch streams. The witcher' series thank god keep the standards of what rpgs should be. kinda why bethesda just rehashes the same game over and over with just a new title and same ♥♥♥♥♥♥ engine. after this new fallout there will be yet another elder scrolls with literally the same buggy and boring gameplay.

im not complaining about any other mechanics. Also is not a matter of whether is manageable or not. The question is : Does it serve a legitimate purpose other than creating busywork for the player? Does removing it destroys the game balance? Does it make it better or worse?

It is for immersion. You may not like immersion but some of us do. You're playing a murderhobo who goes around killing things for money and has no home or baggage train - so you would, naturally, carry around with you only the most important things.

*You* might not want that - just wanting to go around and kill things without hassle - but that's the character and the world.

Yes, removing it does destroy game balance. At least at the early stages. Later you'll be rich enough to just go buy the stuff you want.
