Replaying with different choices?
So, recently I discovered just how MUCH the story changes based on your choices in the Witcher 2. I played the entire trilogy for a single playthrough, and imported my save files each time because then my choices mattered, and I like that in a game.

So, for reasons I won't disclose here due to major spoilers, I want to go back to the Witcher 2, and redo some of my decisions (one big decision is taking the Iorveth route instead of Roche) and see the consequences of what happens with those changes.

My question is: since I have a finished game file ready for New Game +, if I go and try new things, will I not be able to use the NG+ feature and have to start from scratch? My best case scenario here is I play through Witcher 2 again, and then make a NG+ that imports those choices so I have my inventory in Witcher 3, but have a different experience because I have different choices.

Any help or advice is much obliged, please keep it spoiler free, since this discussion is about game mechanics rather than actual plot.

I barely noticed any relevant diferances, as in no characters from your spoiler zone appear or mention any of it in W3.
I'd suggest you try out the simulate option , not sure how that works with NG+ tho.

Simulate a W2 save and call it a day. I'd say play TW2 if you really want to play it, but if you just want to see what a choice from TW2 changes in TW3 then simulate it.

How does the simulation work? Does it walk you through the choices in some sort of procedure?

When you arrive at Vizima general Voorhis will ask you 5 questions about events of TW2(he will describe the event). You have to asnwer A or B based on how the events developed in your supposed save.

Thanks, I kinda want to play the Witcher 2 to see the short term effects with the game (and also to meet characters who will now be alive... oops. Really I just need an excuse to play the game again) And then will NG+ using my new choices. Thanks for helping!

Honestly, after all is said and done, the only benefit from importing a full complete save from witcher 2 (and 1) was a. the tattoo i got on a drunken night out appeared, and b. a handful of glossary changes and about 30 different dialoge options. The simulated save works if you don't have the time to go back

I can think of two things the real save has over the simulated one (very minor).

1- In the real save, you get a neck tattoo (well if you drink with ves and vern in whatever that town was called ). That doesn't simulate, but it does carry over with the real. Console command settattoo (1) will do the trick, temporarily though.

2- There is a ♥♥♥♥♥ called Whistling Wendy, she was in TW2 Vern path. A bangable on the other side of that eternal battlefield near Henselts camp. I'm not 100% certain on this as for requirements but if the save is real I think while doing the investigation for the serial killer instead of her sicking her brothers on you thinking you are returning to your crime, she recognizes you as an old John, you get a little dialogue scene of yellow let me witcher wench/ a white how's your mother/ hows the weather you know...catch up. No fight, just investigate.

*I'm fuzzy on this, but there may have been some extra mages you could have sent off when Now or Never is ready to start. Merchant types, in dialogue, that may require a Lorveth path. Not sure...too many variables to juggle details perfectly in this game. Either way, small details meant for very few, so they are exceptionally minor in what they are.

The almost complete disregard of TW2 is my main issue with TW3.

I can get Radovid murdering mages. He already had hints of madness and hatred to mages in TW1. But no mention of Anais, Saskia and especially Iorveth really irks me. In the grand scheme of things, they were alot more important than Roche and Ves...

Your choices matter little, and it’s a shame. Ghosts of the past shines as how they could have proper paid homage

^ Ya, the absense of missions, or even readables about Lorveth was suprising to me. It would be so challenging as a developer though, to generate worldspaces with 2 games that included so many choices. At least, in order for the missions not to be random generated, and unique, i feel they did the best job they could.

i'dve been happier if tw3 took 1/3 or 1/4 time to finish but'd 3-4 paths which cant be explored in single playthrough.
