No Stealth mechanics?
Surely Im just missing it but is there no way to crouch or any kind of stealth mechanics at all in this game? Getting tired of just trampling around loud as can be and alerting everything long before I can even see what it is.

There were a number of missions in the game where Geralt had to employ stealth. They were quite few, but they were full of suspense and very intriguing.

Some monsters were very easy to dupe, while others were perceptive and had keen senses. The game managed to present the different abilities of each monster just right in my opinion, and it did not trick the player into believing that they could outwit these hulking beasts at all.

It all just works out in my opinion.

Wait, what?

Ok so you mean to tell me that in a game that is mostly about hunting monsters... hunting.. hunting.. HUNTING(aka no stealth no realistic hunting no other option)... there is no stealth. There is however a confusing and boring as hell card game?

Tell me again how this has Overwhelmingly positive reviews?

I mean seriously.. how do you just leave out the main aspect of hunting? Stealth.

Considering there are no monsters in the real world, just what are you basing realism on in that respect?? The Witcher has its own lore based on a series of books and short stories. You cannot use stealth tactics when fighting monsters so witchers are never trained to use them since their sole purpose for existing is to kill monsters.
Good grief this thread is so old, & still triggering the fan babies I guess lol. And I still feel the same about it. Game should have had stealth, very poor decision to not have it. It's an incredibly fun mechanic in any open world RPG, and in a game where you hunt or slay anything, its just dumb not to have it.

And as I explained before in this thread, Witcher's are dumb af if they toss the easy advantage of stealth out the window by default. In ANY world real or fantasy, when engaging in a life or death fight, the common sense thing to do is to make sure you have the best possible odds of winning the fight by using anything and everything that could tip those odds more in your favor. And stealth before a fight that you are knowingly going into is just beyond idiotic to give up. The game was a let down due to this. Should have gave the player the ability to be creative about how they wanted to fight rather than having scripted scenarios. Lore be damned, the writers sucked if they actually specify that Witchers dont need stealth, as stated above, it's just dumb to give up any advantage, especially the one that gives you valuable intel on the situation you're about to engage in. This game would have been much better with stealth mechanics.

I'm so tired of seeing this thread pop up on the first page of discussion. How about instead of all the whining and complaining, you all get together and make a masterpiece stealth game? Let us know when it's done.

You're not thinking this through. This game is about a specific and already well established character from a book series. Sure, stealth is awesome in any game and I always use stealth when a game allows me to.. but what you're asking is like asking to have Hulk stealth missions in the new Avengers game.. or an option to use a dagger and go lethal in a new Batman game. It's simply out of character. You missing out on the context and being ignorant about it.

Holy necro'd thread batman! Anyone bother to check the date on this? lmao

Good grief. Oh and btw, My original assessment still stands, this game needed stealth. Say what you want, dance around it however you want, this game would have been MUCH FUNNER with stealth. It would have fit so much better and made so much more sense. But no, stealth wasn't added because (Insert reason), and that was a bad decision.

Oh and btw, I see this thread and my opinion since I first created this thread has triggered the ever lovin crap out of fanboys far and wide.. So here is your disclaimer to help you feel the world is all right again... I'm not saying the game is/was bad.. Just saying it needed stealth and I feel it was downright silly to leave it out of this game. My opinion.

Good day to you lads and lasses.

Wdym it would fit better? Made more sense? Do you even know who Geralt is? Have you spent more than 50 hours in that universe? Because if you had any more sense of what he is like, you would know that he is not stealthy. And he is a witcher. He is strong, stronger than most witchers. He doesn't sit in a corner and hide, waiting for someone to come along so he can fight them. No, he finds a contract, and hunts them down.

I do think most games with an optional stealth system benefit greatly from it. It just caters to the variuos personality types. Personally, I like waiting and watching and figuring out the best way to tackle a situation. I'm going to start Witcher 3 now and I'm pretty interested to see why it is such a critcally acclaimed gamed even though it has seemingly linear gameplay.

It's the characters, the setting, and the huge world you find yourself in are what made the game a huge success.

If this game tried to add stealth I would never have played.

The few "stealth" missions there are can sod right off

Nah. It's the huge marketing campaign and softporn elements.

Anyway the absence of stealth mechanics is one of the things that make tw3 a poor RPG.

Then why isn't Cyberpunk the same success as the Witcher as it has both of those elements as well?

I have seen a lot of people trying to argue that good games are poor but you're really doing an awful job here. Whomever is paying you for it should get a refund.

The Witcher goes in like a boss he is no sneak thief. The manliest man to ever man the man up. Plus the instant fail stealth section in TW2 really sucked.

Because it doesn't have to work the same way twice in a row, and there are other factors and parameters. The fact that CDPR tried the same formula speaks for itself though. They knew.
Besides, cyberpuk sold well regardless of the drama.

I'm about 3 years too late. There's stealth mechanics now. Modded, but still.
Here you go: https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/6228
Well alrighty then, I just might give the game another go to try this out.
