No Stealth mechanics?
Surely Im just missing it but is there no way to crouch or any kind of stealth mechanics at all in this game? Getting tired of just trampling around loud as can be and alerting everything long before I can even see what it is.

Been thinking about this whole no stealth in witcher lore business.

Now this game starts with them very sternly teaching Ciri in the ways of the Witcher. In fact the main lesson at the beginning they preach is about her needing to be smart before she can really expect to be a worthy opponent to any foe.

Well, does it not strike anyone else as just dumb not to retain the element of surprise when possible? Instead of just jogging through the woods without a care in the world. I mean if you're like Superman or Incredible hulk and just dont need to worry.. sure. But dude in this game you are squishy as all get out, at least to start. And yea even if you supposedly step so light nothin can hear you, you're still not invisible. Even if you didnt have to worry about getting hurt you still wouldnt want to have to chase whatever you're after if you spook it. Idk.. just kind of a silly flaw in that lore.

i think kind of quarry witchers chase's far better at detection than witchers can be at sneaking so one needs to do other trickery to survive.

But maybe a person that wants to see if its actually a troll they're fixing to engage, what level it is, how many there are, and come up with a plan of attack. Rather than assuming you're after a troll and accidentally running up on a bear or two way higher level than you are and getting your ass handed to you. And as I pointed out earlier lack of stealth for this game really kills the immersion for me. When tracking anything potentially dangerous.. regardless of how awesome something/someone is it always makes sense to have the element of surprise and know exactly what you're up against before engaging it. Just my two cents and opinion on the matter.

That's where his witcher senses would come in handy, wouldn't you think? The game and lore is as such. Don't like it? Go find some other game to play. I hear some believe Skyrim is similar.

Na, I'll keep playing this and tell the truth about it rather than fanboy my ass off over it and ignore the obvious flaws. Thanks for your suggestion though.

assassins creed games dont even have a proper "stealth" mechanic either, but still a game about it...witchers dont need be stealthy to fight monsters, they have mutations, and gadgets to fight.

Yea not a big fan of AC games, myself.. thats a franchise that will be ran into the ground as bad or worse than CoD is or will be. Kinda lost their charm after the first one imo. They're more about parkour than anything else though I think which is fun too.

And yea, but still.. its never smart to give up an easily held advantage.. especially in matters of life and death.

tw3 is hella easy if not being played on death march, so try playing it on that setting, the only things to take care are bandits, and monster with skull icons with higher lvl than yours, after the quests on the first map, things get easier on death march.
Some games are played for the sluggish mechanics, like dark souls games, where most of ppl just die for accident sometimes missing atks or even evading.

Funny how everyone managed to miss these "obvious" flaws when the game was handed out 800+ awards and when it was getting overwhelmingly positive reviews here. Almost as if sticking to lore was better than catering to the misguided expectations of one gamer. But that can't be, surely...

Did I say the game sucked? Pretty sure I havent. Believe me I see where the game is good. I didnt buy it just for ♥♥♥♥♥ and giggles. But just because something gets awards it doesnt mean its perfect. And certainly doesnt mean it cant be improved. Sorry. Pointing out flaws and having high expectations encourages improvement. Fanboying and insulting the people that arent blinded by fanboyism encourages the opposite.

Also as I have pointed out.. that lore has a pretty big flaw if it wants to act like Witchers are smart but still throw easy advantages to the wind just because.

Contrary to your idea, the AC series has just made a strong comeback with the latest entry.

Guess Ubi isn't like Activision after all.
What AC game are we on now?? 6,7? Bound to be a couple good ones in there. Bravo Ubi, you got one. Lol

Dont like AC do you? Its ok.. you can like AC. Its not my thing.. we can have different tastes and still be civil. And hey nothin against Ubi at all except Uplay. Far Cry is my favorite open world shooter or stealth game.

And where did I say it's perfect? If you don't like the lore, talk to Sapkowski, because this is not a game flaw.

You implied its perfection by acting like it got all these rewards, so nothing must be wrong.

It is a flaw when its unimmersive and strikes people as just plain silly when they stop to actually place a bit of thought into it. Just because whoever wrote it like that it doesnt mean it was the best decision. Seriously.. just stop and sensibly think about what a Witcher does. Sure he can step quietly.. but he's not invisible. He can still be killed. Whatever he is after can still run. Wouldnt it be dumb to not use the simple advantage of stealth in any scenario by simply staying low or peeking around a tree or a rock to see what you're about to engage, any advantages/disadvantages of its placement, and so on. The simple answer is yes.. it would be incredibly dumb. That portion of the lore just falls apart when you actually stop and think about it. That is a major flaw in logic.

Interesting discussion. I never felt the need for stealth, it made sense for the character to stride right in like a badass. Thiking about It, would have been nice to have some stealth options to get a better bead on some of the monsters, properly prepare oils, bombs, potions etc., and to make better use of the backstab damage. That f'img werewolf is the hardest part of the game, hands down. almost rage quit right there, and have a friend that did. Choosing not to rage quit was a fantastic decision, as this was the best game i have ever played.

Lmao glad Im not the only person that got pissed over that stupid werewolf. I plan to play more as well, though to figure out what all the hype is about. Certainly not throwing in the towel yet.

"No Stealth mechanics?" You asked a question, quite a few people answered your question, yet you blow EVERYONE off, even the polite people who are trying to be help. Just accept the game for what it is, find a mod for it, or leave the game, stop blowing people off that are trying to help you. Makes me sick, like honestly. I mean beyond all of that, there is a thing called MODS.

Blowing people off? Im not blowing anyone off. Im being friendly to people that are being friendly to me. I dont consider this: "Hey, you need to either like the game as it is without complaint or dont play it!" as friendly. And I'll respond to that just as unfriendly. Not sure what you're reading but I have been plenty civil and had some friendly banter in this topic.
All I've done is try to express my opinion and observation. Havent intended any of that as an attack or rude response to anyone that didnt come off rude to me in the first place. So I apologize to anyone that has been friendly whom might have taken anything I have said as being a foul or offensive response to them. As far as the rest go.. they can just learn how to be civil when discussing differing opinions and views or get an uncivil response in kind.

I'm afraid I have to apoligize, I have made the grave mistake of only reading one of the pages on this discussion, I take back all that I have said. But that being said I think the game is just fine without major stealth mechanics, but I do agree it would be nice to maybe have some sort of system so you could maybe use foilage as cover, not be seen by monsters with poor eyesight (Ghouls for example) to survey them. Again I sincerly apoligize for my brashness a few minutes ago.
