Halk's HD Reworked Project 5.1 released.

People seemingly keep bumping this thread. So I will update it a bit.

5.1 is an amazing update, and it brings with it a lot of cohesiveness and alterations that make the game look a bit more like Vanilla but with much better textures. It's been out for months, and 5.2 will not be updated for a long time. There ya go.

Remeember, you don't need to use anything in particular with Halk's settings if you know what you are doing. You can also mod the three files with proper settings so you don't get the LOW graphics glitch, even though that doesn't matter. Just make sure your settings are the same between all files.

You have your user settings in documents, and you have your rendering ini in base folder and the rendering xml in the r4 folder accessed by the config folder.

Do some research. You can use Halk's settings if you want, but you might as well just mod your own game.

Only a few settings need to be changed in rendering ini to match your user settings, namely texture resolution, memory budget, et cetera. Nothing major.

Your user settings has many files you can change from shadow cascade settings to grass settings.

Your XML file can be changed so you don't get the low settings glitch in graphics when you change settings to go over the uber limit.

I personally change all low and uber profiles in the xml file to MATCH each other. This means I match all the shadow cascade settings in this file for each low and uber profile. Halk does not touch shadow cascade settings, but I use 1.8 across the board for much better shadows.

You can also match your grass density settings to your user settings here same thing as above. You also want to match your texture size and memory budget for low and uber. Remember we are matching these so we don't get the LOW settings glitch.

It's not too hard guys. If you want less shimmering then remember to put the mip bias back on zero I think in user settings. Halk already does this with his profile.

I wrote this to help people. You will still have to look up what settings do. There are a few more things you can change, just make sure they match across the files for an easier time.

The last thing you need to do is make sure you have a mod settings file in documents next your user settings file. Here you assign priority to your mods. Done.

Yep, after playing a bit more this is definitely a step up. You almost need this mod for the proper experience.

Well I think it fixed most of the problems. He said that he is still working on a couple cave problems still.

I'm running 5.1. I'm pretty sure that the textures are being used but the screen space reflections don't look like they are working. Is there a setting under Video that I need to use to enable them? I have textures set to the mod option.

HBAO+ is in the Witcher 3 settings menu. No idea other than that. Halk's stuff should be separate from anything like that.

5.1 is amazing though.

I nstalled 5.1 .

The Halk HD preset does not show up in Options/Graphics like it should.

Mod is broken it seems.

Absolutely nothing. You seem to be confused.

I'm not sure what it hard to understand here. Some of Halk's textures were veering a bit away from the intended look. He fixed and upgraded the poor textures to better match the style of the game. 5.1 is overall a huge improvement on the base game in just about every single way.

I don't know what you guys are doing, but do some research. You don't need Halk's HD preset if you know anything about what you are doing.

You have three files. Your user settings in documents, your rendering xml in r4, and your rendering ini in base both of those in the witcher 3 files themselves.

I edited the first post with more info to help people if they need it.

Okay heathens, I edited the thread with more info. Hopefully it can help some of you out in modifying your own files if you have issues. You absolutely do not need to use Halk's HD settings.

You have three files to tune for Witcher 3 settings. If you tune all of them right you won't have the LOW settings glitch, not that it matters, and you will have everything correct and all you need to do is make a mod folder and make sure you have a mod settings folder with HD as the first priority.

I have seen the vanilla and 5.1 compared on you tube and the difference is microscopic.

Unless the mod didn't install properly which is the issue I am having.

The mod NEEDS 1.31 patch of the game which means all my saves are lost now.

Dam this mod lol,getting rid of it,does not work anyway.

You obviously don't have a clue what you are doing. Seek help. Learn to read.

The differences are absolutely gigantic in many areas. You would have to be blind to think otherwise. Wood especially is completely different and ten times better thoughout the entire world. Same thign with stone work and random objects in buildings. Difference is easily night and day with many textures as you can clearly see in the youtube vids.

Like I said you sound like someone that should not be modding.

Halk's mod will never delete or modify anything with saves you dork. Period. Inform yourself.

Stop whining on a forum when the problem is your own incompetence.
