Starting to think it's bugged for me, can't seem to unlock it after farming 100 bandits at a time for four hours. Thoughts? I also can't find that console command that unlocks achievements...

you sure that you are getting headshots? the game gives you both a visual as well as an audio feedback for the headshots (the camera shakes and you can hear a loud impact noise when you do it).

this mod apparently keeps track of your headshots so that might make the achievement easier to track.
the author of the mod claimed that it does not work with the 1.30 version of the game, but according to people posting, it works wit the 1.31 so give it a try.

I used that to keep a count after wondering how far I had got with this achievement. It does not interfere with the gameplay in any way, just adds a count to the combat log. I installed it and got the achievement pre B&W when it but didn't get around to uninstalling it until fairly recently. I can't remember however if it was still counting post the B&W updates.

I can't seem to get the mod to work, I don't see a counter in the change log anywhere

If it works it will add a count to the combat log so when you get a kill that counts you should see it listed amongst the damage information. You obviously have to have the combat log enabled in the game settings. If it goes past too quickly for you to read there is a mod mentioned in the comments for this mod that slows down the combat log to make it easier to read.

I cant get it, I killed lots of drowners and bandits but cant get it

Only when your screen shakes did you actually headshot someone. A lot of times you aim for the head but don't hit it, maybe weird hit boxes.

Does the kill count for the achievement if you wound the enemy with a sword, but kill them with the crossbow to the head?

Just a note--it does have to be either humans, elves, or dwarves. The achievement is worded very poorly.

You just need to kill them with it. It look me forever, but I finally got it. Do human bandits in the starting area. Best of luck.

Thank you! I ended up having pretty good luck in the Devil's Pit.

Yeah that was a tedious achievement, but its done now. The crossbow is a bit useless in the game. I only ever use it underwater for drowners or to shoot down a harpy (or other flying vermin). Could have been much better for ranged attacks.
