Choices carrying over from Witcher 1 to Witcher 3
Are there any? I skipped the first game because it was crashing a lot but I am playing through the second game. I wondered if there was any choices in Witcher 1 that affects Witcher 3?

Only if you add Witcher 2 saves when starting a new game

After you pass the White Orchard, Emperor will ask you some questions in Vizima, the answers you pick will affect the storyline, mostly the sidequests

You mean only Witcher 2 saves affect Witcher 3? Witcher 1 saves (or choices) doesn't matter?

To my knowledge W1 save has no effect, even if you did import W1>W2>W3. For example Thaler is alive in W3 even if he died in W1.

Thanks Vellari! You have been answering all my questions through Witcher 1, 2 and 3 forums lol... You are the real mvp!

No need to use save games. You can choose option synchronise Witcher 2 saves before starting a new game. Then in game while a milfguardian character investigates what you did in Witcher 2 (choices) , answer according to your memory. Only 2 choices are important as it adds a side mission & few dialogues, nothing else. This is the drawback of Witcher series.

Thaler part proves that our evil choices do not matter. And game follows Witcher's neutral path according to story. There is no mention of Adda. Iorveth & Saskia are not even there. And what we did in first game has no merit.

Each game has a unique story in the same setting and place so it's okay. Not like we're playing Telltale games amirite.

Very wrong. You want to use previous save games, this clearly means that you want your past choices to have effects in third game.I see you are trying to defend the game/series but it is not fair. It makes your original post aimless.

Well my point is that they don't matter as much as they do in Telltale games. English is not my native language so I guess I couldn't be clear about that. Also I disagree with you about who's defending the game because I was actually criticizing the fact that choices are not that impactful as Vellari stated some of them don't really matter buuut I am not gonna talk about this further because I just can't express myself lol. Thank you for being understanding.

In my experience it's better to just simulate choices rather than import a saved game, since importing is a bit buggy. I imported my W2 save into W3 and although (no spoilers) that big brute from the Snake school lived, in my W3 he was marked as dead.

Uhh that's bad I guess I'll simulate too if I don't end up with good gear.

Gear doesn't matter. Nothing material is carried over from W2>W3, only your story choices and those are minor at best too. Mostly it just changes some dialog, how people react to you, who's dead or alive, etc. Nothing major.

Only thing that kinda sorta matters is whether Letho is dead or alive. If he is around you get a quest with him and he is a possible ally for Battle of Kaer Moerhen (does not affect the outcome of that though).
