Forgetting thermal paste can cause serious issues when your CPU is under load.

Witcher 3 82 and closes my pc after it. Strange thing is, it started to do this suddenly. I was playing Blood&Wine without a problem.
About plastic cover: I removed it. I don't think cooling is the problem.
Well, cooling is a problem if you're surpassing 80C. Either it's faulty or generally insufficient.
I would make sure the cooler is properly/evenly seated and not leaning on its side for example. Check the fan aswell that it is working as it should (rpms and bearings), which is sometimes hard to tell just by looking at it. Sound for one, when you're reaching thermal max the fan should go nuts and sound like a hoover.
Depending on what cpu you actually have and the cooler anything past 75C is getting toasty.
First time this happened because of a corrupted file. Now, i am reinstalling the dlc.
Even if reinstalling fixes, i will order a new cooler tomorrow.
But, i am still confused what triggered this sudden temperature problem. Because, i checked and cpu usage by Witcher 3 at most %30.
Other softwares which uses more then half of the cpu aren't doing this. Strange.
is this about cpu or gpu usage and temps? also anything else running besides witcher 3? say crypto malware? in any case if your system isnt thermally stable while you're running prime95 or heavy gpu benchmarks for hours then you're having cooling troubles.
what's your temp when you're running prime95 for say 30 min on all cores?
The symptoms you're reporting are really only (2) possibilities from a hardware angle - overheating (most likely the case), or a failing PSU / insufficient power delivery. Get the temps under control and see how the stability is.
Edit - also if you are overclocking at all, back your clocks down to stock while you troubleshoot.
Well, hours spent for a simple mistake :/
Side note: For so long, i only focused on my cpu problems, i didn't notice my gpu bottlenecking. Well, time to search for a new Gpu.
