How to defeat the Katakan vampire ?
It should be noted that I carry 91/60 and I can hardly move, plus I don't have a silver sword at the moment.
Is there a way to go back to the stash without repeating the entire mission ?
I am pretty close to defeating him. I am using mostly igni and dancing star bombs (although I am not sure what they do) but he keeps regenerating HP.
Thanks in advance.

Load a game from before you fight the katakan, then go and get a silver sword! Silver swords do much more damage to monsters than steel, so silver is what you want for this fight. Since katakans are a type of vampire, coat your sword with vampire oil before you start the fight. If I remember right, Igni's almost useless against katakans, and it would be a better idea to go with Quen instead. Finally, dump that extra weight, as it's just weighing you down. Light armor's good for this fight, too, since the katakan is fast and you need the mobility that you get from light armor.

Dump down all your weight on him to knock him out. Then stuff his mouth full of garlic, stab his heart with wooden stake, spray some Holy water on him and finally use a flash grenade to produce enough light to cause the vampire to disintegrate. Yoo-hoo!!! Hisded!

Thing is that while the Bestiary says that they are invulnerable to fire, they go on to recommend using Igni against them. Igni does plenty of damage to them so don't hesitate to use it.

Moon Dust and Devil's Puffball both work well against them too since Moon Dust prevents them from transforming and teleporting around the room and Devil's Puffball releases a cloud of poison gas which Igni can then ignite causing even more damage.

Yrden also helps to slow them down and trap them. Upgraded version called Magic Trap will do additional damage to them. And Vampire Oil is a must as is a silver sword.

Yeah, you're right about Igni, but Quen was a lifesaver for me in this fight.

I just never understand how people post topics asking something when the answer is in their question.

how to defeat the katakan vampire. Note im overencombered plus dont have the 1 weapon thats meant to fight it.

How can anyone not think oh ♥♥♥♥ maybe i need to get rid of some things and grab a silver sword......why do i not even have a silver sword equiped in the first place..........

He says he gets close to beating it. So literally him getting rid of things even dropping things to be picked up after the fight and equiping a silver sword, he would likely defeat it.

Assuming he is telling the truth that he gets close to defeating it.
