But in order for his statement to be true that you are meant to do Hos before the ending of the base game. (Im going to be vague to avoid spoilers) You would have to side with 1 guy over the other.
This choice you dont make until the end of Hearts of stone And unless you researched it before hand on the internet and spoiling yourself you would not know there even will be hints on how to get the certain ending. So it would not influence your decision on which side you take.
On top of that you would also have to pick 1 of several dialoge options at the end of hos stone Even if you do side with the 1 guy your suppose to inorder to get the hints. .
While this is obvious which dialoge it is at this point because now it flat out says what it is. In order for Hos to be meant to be played before the ending you would have to pick that 1 single dialoge option in order to get it.
Making all other dialoge options useless. So why did they put the others in there? If Hos is meant to be played before you finish the main game why put in the others? Why didnt they just not give you the others and instead just the reward for picking that 1 side just be the hints on how to get a certain ending?
If Hos is meant to be played before you complete the main game why is it the starting level of the very first quest of Hos is higher then any quest level in the main game?
ON top of that in order to even get the hints you would have to start Hos before a certain point in the main game. And your going to be 10 or so levels under the recommended levels for the first quest of Hearts of Stone.
You will be in the lvl range of 20s doing quest that are in the 30s. After completing Hos you will be so overleveld for the main games once you return to it that the final battle would be a joke. (Not that its really that hard to begin with)
The quest where you get the hints is like lvl 36-38 somewhere around there.
Which is my last point. Chronological order of the game says to do hearts of stone after the base game.
Since there is no indication of time meaning no indication on what date did geralt do this or that stated in the game. Meaning Geralt Arrived at velen on a tuesday at 10 am. Theres non of that.
But there is Quest levels. The only thing in the game that anyone can reasonbly base when Geralt did certain things.
And the very first quest of hearts of stone is 2 or 3 levels higher then the very last quest of the base game.
And the Hearts of stone quest that that you do that if you pick that 1 guys side and pick that 1 dialog option is like 36 to 38 aomewhere around there.
That dialog option that gives you the hints was for people who chose to do Hos before the ending as a little hey you get this dialoge option because why wouldnt Geralt choose this dialoge option over the others.
It wasnt a confirmation that cdpr intended for players to do Hos of stone before ending the main game. But instead a nice little surprise for the people who just happened to choose to do so.
