How do i finish off enemies knocked over by aard?
They get up before i manage to run over and stab them.

Who are you fighting mosnters or humans?

Humans
If you can't run over them in time, then... roll over them! It's much faster.

I try, but they get up almost as soon as they hit the ground, so there's no time. The only way i can stab them is if their trajectory is blocked by something, like a wall.

Is my game bugged, or is it normal?

Upgrade your abillity for aard and they will stay down longer

I had a sneaking suspicion that this would be the case. Thanks!

This is one of the design flaws with Witcher 3. Geralt automatically goes into Creep Walk mode whenever you're near an enemy, regardless of your setting to Walk or Run. This makes it difficult to get close the knocked down enemy before they get up. You can try rolling closer, or sprinting. Both are less precise than would be running, if we were allowed to control that during combat.

Hmm...didn't had much problems getting close to knocked down enemies. Never went for full aard build, but parrying enemies when you are at higher level causes knockdown, and even them falling down some meters away no trouble running towards them to finish.

You can run even in battle, at least with gamepad is easy. Press A during the battle while you move and Geralt will run...though is not very advisable if you play some hard mod like Ghost Mode...in that case actually the Creep Walk and watching out what the enemy is going to do is better than wild running and dancing.

I can't speak for using a controller, because...well who in their right mind would use one? But during combat, it's just not possibl to run. We can Creep Walk, or Sprint. Those are the only options.

I find playing witcher with a controller far much more enjoyable than with kbm, you can like Damian said, simply press A (and hold it) and you will run even while in combat mode
