The Baron the the Lubberkin

I just started playing the two expansion packs with the main game. I chose to change the botchling into a lubberkin and started my way back to the Baron's home to bury. The botchling turned into a beast I just fought the beast, using every sign, bomb, and sword, and used up all of my foodstuffs, potions, etc. and still have yet to harm the beast beyond half, but it regenerates (twice now) and has full health (again). Anyone else select the lubberkin and have it change into the beast, and 2. How does it die/morph/whatever?

I chose to change it to, into a botchling, what i found about this game is, you have to pay atention to every detail this is not fallout or skyrim where you can kill everything you want and nothing changes .. Like BuzzardBee said you must use Axii to calm it down ! You need to do that about 3 times before you reach the house !

Thank you for responding. When I first played, that is how I accomplished it. No problems. Used Axii to calm, killed wraiths. New game, chose lubberkin, arrived on castle path, killed wraiths, axii to calm. Walked up to castle gate and the Baron drops the baby and it turned into the beast. Tried all signs (Axii, too). Slowed the beast, but it was still after me. Igni works best to try to beat beast, but after a 30 minute fight, and after exausting resources (food), trying all signs etc. still not able to hurt much. Silver sword with cursed oil gives me strikes of 9, 7 damage to beast. I am level 5, so still early in game. All blue points in Igni (5) and shield (3) with deception 1. With blue 5% mutagen. A 30 minute fight and I barely scratch him. BTW, this is the first playthrough with new DLCs added. Thoughts?

The quest can bug out and give you the botchling too. Or maybe you cast axii but weren't aiming properly at the Baron. You have to wait until you see his name highlighted.

Even then I have had it give me the botchling fight through no fault of my own. The part where the metal castle gate opens before the 2nd specter fight area, as soon as the gate started raising it gave me the botchling monster fight lol.

Completed that portion by carefully following directions. Went smoothly this time, no beast, and additional wraiths inside threshold area were defeated, and the burial ceremony continued. I think Buzzard Bee got it right on. I probably skipped (spacebar) a few required points. Thanks to all who chimed in. I appreciate it!

btw if you go to far ahead, it will transform as well. Idk if you did that?
