carry weight is frequently becoming an issue
I'm exceeding my 100 carry weight pretty frequently when I loot everything in sight. It sucks not being able to fast travel, then.

I do store some of my stuff in stashes, but maybe not enough.

For example, I carry all my alchemy and crafting items on me, which weighs a lot. Is that not necessary or unwise? I figure I want that stuff on me so I can create stuff...

Are there ways I can permanetly increase my carry weight? Like are there better saddlebags I can buy that bump up the weight? I haven't seen any for sale at venders in Velen or White Orchrd, which are the areas of the world map I am on.

Thanks.

Most alchemy and crafting items do not have any weight. Sell weapons and armor you don't use, sell junk (or dismantle it into useful components), and don't loot stuff like empty flasks, ashes, skulls, etc.

Win the horse races so you can carry more. Put all your Runes in your stash. Get rid of all your crossbow bolts into your stash. Sell a lot of heavy and useless crafting stuff, like hides. You do need a hide or two for crafting, but they aren't rare - so don't worry about it.

Occasionally, when I get overburdened, I'll ether call Roach(cos it don't bother him/her), or dump something of low value.

Early game I got the perk from the brown skill tree that gives +60. do horse races till you get a saddlebag with 50-70 inventory. Then you can get rid of the skill. If you have around 130-150 inventory space you should have enough.

-Sell all runes that give 3% or less as a bonus. Even if you use 3 runes of 3% its only 9% chance of proc and that just isnt worth a damn. Around lvl15 you should start getting 5-10% runes anyway.
-Put all hides in your stash, might need them later on. if not sell them then for more money then in the base game vendors.
-Dismantle rakes and other heavy stuff into smaller lighter items.
-Sell all horse saddles, blinders etc that you don't need/use
-Crossbow bolts are useless anyway. Sell or stash them as you see fit. You use crossbow underwater and then 1-2 shot anything even without specific bolts.

When leaving town I am usually around 35-40 weight in inventory with 90-120 free too fill with loot.

or if you do not care about breaking immersion, install a carry weight limit mod.

I wouldn't sell runes, because if you buy a few diagrams, which are fairly cheap - you can get a Master Smith/Armorour to craft you whatever Greater Runes/Glyphs you like from enough lower runes/glyphs.

Fair enough, if you never want to use those runes. I like only poison, bleeding and fire runes in steel swords, and bleeding, fire and attack strength in silver anwyay.

If you're exceeding that much weight frequently, you're carrying a lot of stuff you don't need. I'm only level 14 in my current playthrough, sitting at about 60 weight after big hauls, and I probably never need to loot anything again because of how much crafting crap I have. IMO you can sell all "junk" items without breaking them down into crafting components. I bothered with breaking them down in early game but I can't see any reason to do it by level 10. Way too much silver, iron, leather, etc in my backpack already.

Like someone else said, most crafting materials don't weigh anything so you never need to worry there.

I'm playing with the Ghost mod, which assigns a weight to some items in the vanilla game that don't have a weight

Then you knew what you were signing for...Ghost mod says that exactly, it should make weight management more complicated.... You can try anyway to install a max weight mod or see if the Ghost mod allows you to disable changes in weight of items.

LMAO then why are you even asking this question?

Having a mod installed doesn't make the question invalid. I enjoy the other aspects of the mod.

Thanks for the suggestionsm, folks.

you can order items by weight to see where most of your gear weight comes from.
pokerhabs Jan 21, 2018 @ 7:40pm
Don't mod...

Just let go overweight and play.

Just stop playing games.... Damn, numbers of brainless thread...

Yes it does, you idiot. You installed a mod that adds weight to every item.
