Quests Failing?
I'm pretty new to the game, and I've been doing some quests in White Orchard. When I went to the inn to leave White Orchard for the Lilac and Gooseberries quest, my secondary quests from White Orchard failed. I reloaded my save and completed them, so I have no more active ones, but I assume there are more to do. Do only active quests fail? In other words, if I leave white Orchard, will I be able to go back and complete whatever I haven't completed there?

sometimes you cant go back to finish things. one such case's when you first leave white orchard. there'll be one very big point of no return later but game telegraphs that heavily.

So, would it be best to explore all of White Orchard to make sure I don't miss anything before progressing?

It's a good rule of thumb to try and clear areas as you go through them as some things are time sensitive and others will fail if you leave the area as you've just learned in White Orchard. There's a reasonable explanation for this however in that logic would dictate that some people may just not survive unless you intervene.

In White Orchard, for example, there is a woman who had been attacked by that griffin that you have to kill for the main quest and so that the game will progress. You can choose to try and help her by giving her one of your potions. However, should you explore and discover your own means to resolving the griffin quest without ever visiting the herbalist or if you chose not to help the woman, she would die from her injuries. So even if you were to return to White Orchard later on, you would no longer be able to do that secondary quest since the woman was already dead.

There are a couple of other instances in White Orchard that are similar. Once you leave the area, it becomes impossible to help them and their fate is sealed. You are always free to travel back to any region you like in the game at any point during the game but you may find that some quests simply won't wait for your interaction with them.

If you don't plan on playing the game a second or third time, and you don't mind losing a few hours of gameplay, it might be worth the effort of starting over again and playing a new game and keeping this in mind.
Okay this helps a lot, thank you.
