There is something you can do about it. You can step in to save him. Meaning killing the people that are trying to kill him.
This isnt like other games that the game will keep him alive and only pretends he is in danger of dying. He will die if you dont step into save him and also ensure he survives the fight.
I was talking with Dijkstra after the mission where you burn the witch hunters fortress. And during the dialog I was hearing fighting sounds.
When the dialog is over i see bandits attacking Ginter. He died before i could act.
I realoded an old save (before doing the quest) and I manage to talk with him and save him, the quest is short not really amazing and have probably not any influence in the story. The only point is that you learn nobles people love pure fisstech
