[SOLVED] Missing 3 Cards in Velen

Just like the other million questions with regard to Gwent collection...

So I've done all the Velen Gwent quests, bought all the cards there are to buy from shopkeepers/innkeepers and now my Guide to Gwent book says I have 3 left in Velen and 10 in Novigrad.

I'm still playing through the Novigrad quests (haven't completed Old Pals, Big City Players & High Stakes yet), but since all these quests are tagged Novigrad, they shouldn't have anything to do with Velen, right?

So what am I missing in Velen?

I'm aware that certain innkeeps spawn new cards in their inventory after returning to them (namely Cunny of The Goose & Seven Cats Inn), I've checked them out and they're only selling repeats of what I've already bought from them, and its not counting toward the number in the book.

Help?

EDIT: So the 3 cards I was missing were the 3 you win from the Gwent mini-tournament that happens in the Vegelbud's Masquerade party during the quest 'A Matter of Life and Death'. This is kinda weird though, considering the Vegelbud residence comes under the Gustfields region (which is technically listed as part of Novigrad, not Velen).

Keep playing the story and the Gwent quests. Some side quests that will unlock while playing the story reward you with Gwent cards. Either that or you'll meet a new character while playing the story and he will be part of the Old Pals Gwent quest.

If you mean the Merchant you free near Coast of Wrecks (and later settles in Midcopse), I already bought his 3 cards.

I already played through the game multiple times before, you don't have to worry about spoiling anything for me ;)

Thing is - I've completed Gwent: Velen Players and got all their cards. I'm also mostly done with Big City Players (defeated Vivaldi, Marquise Serenity & Dijkstra...only the Scoi'tael merchant is remaining).

Old Pals quest progress: Beaten Zoltan (which gives you the quest) & Roche already...haven't met Lambert yet but his card counts toward Kaer Morhen, not Velen. Thaler is one character who I could technically meet & challenge inside Velen...but he can only give you 1 card. Still leaves 2.

Where could they be?

This got the feature of card filters so you'll have an easier time digging through the decks. Just make sure you have filtered out the right ones.

I did that before but after going through it again, something struck me:

I managed to check-mark all the cards that I already got + all the ones associated with future quests + all of the ones that can only be acquired in Skellige shops.

I'm left with 17 cards I can't account for - all of them are supposed to be Randomly won cards. But my Gwent book says there are only 14 cards left which I can acquire from players of no renown (these would be the randomly won ones). However 3 Velen + 14 random wins = 17 missing cards....but that 17 was after I already deducted the card I get from Thaler (which I'm led to believe counts toward Velen), so there's something off here.

Hm. I honestly have no idea where that last Velen card might be at. Check if you have Ciri's card, it's usually earned from a Gwent quest, but the quest was bugged for me and I had to Google where the player was, even though the quest was checked as completed. Maybe the same thing happened to you too.

If you already have it, then I'm out of ideas, I'm afraid. Play the Gwent quests, hopefully you'll find it there.

Hm. I honestly have no idea where that last Velen card might be at. Check if you have Ciri's card, it's usually earned from a Gwent quest, but it was bugged for me, maybe it's bugged for you too. If you already have it, then I'm out of ideas, I'm afraid. Play the Gwent quests, hopefully you'll find it there.

The Ciri card is given by the Scoi'tael merchant (the last challenger left in Big City Players quest), and obviously that has to count toward Novigrad, not Velen.

Yeah I'm hoping some of the random wins might give me the Velen cards I can't account for. Thanks!

Forget about the Gwent book. That thing is useless.

After re-checking the guide & the checklist, I'm inclined to believe you.

The Miraculous Guide to Gwent is anything but miraculous. Was probably made by a drunk mage.

The 3 Velen cards appear to be glitched. Too bad I won't get to see what the book says once I've collected every single one...but anyway, as long as I get the achievement and get to check the Collect 'Em All quest off my Journal, I guess it'll be fine.

Hey, turns out - the book's number was right after all, just the regions were messed up. The 3 cards you win from the guests at the Vegelbud masquerade ball are the 3 Velen cards I needed. It's strange though, considering the Vegelbud's ball happens in Gustfields region (which is technically part of Novigrad).
