Why did peasants attack Kaer Morhen?
Anyone know this? During the Wolf School trasure hunt quest I got some documents that mention some ambiguous things about peasants attacking Kaer Morhen. But it seems so bizarre. Even if we ignore the fact that the fortress was loaded with Witchers who even common folk know are super human killing machines, its in an uninhabited valley.

There are no villages for dozens (hundreds?) of miles. Theyd have to trek across the mountains, and the idea that poor peasants who have barely any food somehow managed to stockpile enough provision for a LONG journey to undertake what should have been a suicide mission... but succeeded? What the hell?

How is it that peasants travel through snowy mountains and somehow successfully besiege Kaer Morhen with pitchforks and hoes? Why did they do this? Feel like the writers wanted to attach some compelling story to the scavenger hunts but only thought this through halfway, thus why it makes zero sense.

How was a peasant boy able to run a pitchfork through geralt and 'kill' him?

A angry mob is capable of many things especially when they have powerful allies backing them up.

I thought I read something that assassins were part of the mob, They riled up a crowd to besiege the castle in an attempt to wipe out the Wolf school.

He spotted the one who had shouted, probably a soldier, because he was wearing a brigantine and high boots. The Witcher wormed his way into the crowd like an eel. The soldier shielded himself with a javelin held in both hands. Geralt cut along the shaft, chopping off the soldier’s fingers. The Witcher whirled, bringing forth shrieks of pain and fountains of blood with the next broad stroke.
‘Mercy!’ an unkempt young man with crazy eyes fell on his knees in front of him. ‘Spare me!’
Geralt spared him, stopped the movement of his arm and sword, using the momentum intended for the blow to spin away. Out of the corner of his eye he saw the unkempt youth spring to his feet and saw what he was holding. Geralt interrupted the turn to spin back the other way. But he was stuck in the crowd. He was stuck in the crowd for a split second.
All he could do was watch as the three-fanged fork flew towards him.

The bane of every good swordsman. Getting stuck in the crowd.

Unrelated. Geralt died in a simple pogrom that started out as a neighbor's spat. The crowd that tried to wipe out the Wolf School was raised by mages although there's little lore about them.
