Witcher 3: Enhanced Edition as first playthrough?
Hi guys,

So I recently decided to play through the Witcher 1 and 2.
I normally start rpgs on the hardest available diff for my first playthrough and it works out just fine. For W1 I had to use all things available to me from beginning to end of act2 (that is where I decided to stop, because w1 has very little variance in gameplay)
Anyhow, for my witcher 2 playthrough I started in "Dark", which is the hardest apart from 1-life-diff, I found myself not using potions or blade oils anymore since the middle of act 2.

So I am now ending act 2 in w2 but I wanna plan my playthrough for the Witcher 3 a little bit more carefully. So I googled and I stumbled upon Witcher 3 Enhanced Edition, which is supposed to heighten immersion and difficulty. Does anyone have experience with this for his first playthrough? Can you recommend?

Thank you in advance for your answer!

Usually I'm against using heavily modifying mods for one's first playthrough except graphical ones. But if you've already decided that the vanilla W3 experience isn't 'hardcore' enough by simply reading about it online, then sure EE is probably what you need.

I mean it would be good to know if it really is a good idea, I didn't want to read too much about the vanilla game in order to not encounter any spoilers or such.
From my experience "Dark" just prolonged the game unecessarily and didn't offer more interesting and unique fighting experiences. So I hope EE changes that... Is that the case wit EE or will it just be op, unfair and incredibly disappointing?
EE is challenging and it'll give you a tough time in the beginning but it overhauls a lot of the vanilla systems and the combat is radically modified. Personally I wouldn't recommend it for 1st playthrough, but it's certainly enjoyable for subsequent playthroughs. Also if you're planning to play with a controller then i really wouldn't recommend EE, it just feels off

So I started yesterday with a controller. I have to say I love it so far! Playing EE right away forces me to engage way more with the world that vanilla probably would make me. I also set a different rule for me for more immersion which is no QT (or because that is not completely possible a more realistic form of QT which is, If I decide to leave an area to another I can only leave it by using an exit signpost, so the signpost situated at a realistic exit for that area.

Combat, I have to agree feels a bit more challenging than it has to be with EE might be the immersive cam and camlock settings.... dunno.

But so far for someone that likes immersion I am incredibly happy with my choice of going EE

So, in the end, you answered your own questions and did what you wanted to despite the advice given to you. Glad they didn't waste their time helping you.

As you can see the first comment states

So I started playing the EE after it was recommended if I think it is not hardcore enough.
As I see it, the only one wasting his time here is you because you didn't add anything to the conversation at all and I thank Cursed Panther and Bassam for their time and you as well actually

Great well done on posting something completely useless and moronic proving the fact that you cant distinguish between asking for Advice and asking for an Opinion. Keep your ♥♥♥♥♥♥ comments to yourself if you have nothing useful to add. If you want to be an attention ♥♥♥♥♥ there are websites for that. On the topic if you feel you need the extra edge id recommend playing EE but the base game itself is a good experience for more relaxed gameplay.
