The Blink ability for Ciri is suicidal
This skill seems bugged for me. Every enemy that Ciri teleports to gets a free hit. I can't use it without dying instantly. Playing on Deathmarch.

To be clear I'm talking about the skill you charge up by holding the Cast Sign button.

Ciri can get hit while doing the skill, which means you have to use it very wisely, since you don't know where she'll be moving around when you use the skill. So using it against packed groups of enemies is not safe, also she can catch/get in the way of missed attacks while moving when there's ally NPCs in the fight.

To be honest blink is not that good, is useful to score extra damage against one enemy providing you hit the enemy before he hits Ciri. For this you need to time it taking in account that the game counts Ciri being in the casting position until she lands the 1st hit, it doesn't matter if graphically she already disappeared.

For me dodges/normal teleports and charge are much more reliable...blink it isn't.

Ciri has the same Fast and Strong attacks that Geralt can use but her fighting style is more reckless in form since she will throw herself into a fight rather than try to disperse enemies with bombs or signs as she can use neither since she is not a witcher. She's faster than Geralt on her feet. She can also parry and counter, if she times it right.

She really only can rely on three things that are uniquely her own while in combat: Charge, Blink and the Magic Amulet that Triss gives her during the Battle of Kaer Morhen.

Charge allows her to execute a short range charged sword strike which she can use to dash forward to her closest target and deliver a devastating blow.

Blink is her teleportation ability that acts as her dodge which allows her to burst forward in whichever direction she chooses to either avoid direct incoming attacks or to position herself behind an enemy so she can deliver a flurry of fast attacks. When you are able to combine the two, charge up for an attack and then teleport an enemy, you can usually take them out immediately.

As you continue to play as her, you'll be able to create a magical field that expands and covers several enemies allowing her to teleport to numerous enemies caught inside the field and kill them all with ease. These are generally all instant kills.

The Magic Amulet allows her to call down a column of fire dealing heavy damage to anything on the ground in the immediate are so it's best to make sure you move before it lands. This move is great for following up on a Charge and Blink attack that has left several enemies badly wounded but still alive. This attack will finish them all off at once.

Well done not reading the post. I specifically noted that I was talking about the ability that teleports her around and attacking. NOT THE DODGE MOVE.

Thanks to Damián for providing an answer pertinent to the question.

The auto attack leap thing killed me a few times while on cliffs.

Let's make sure first we are in the same wave length when we talk about Ciri's skills.

BLINK

1)You hold the cast sign button-> Ciri will pose while a circle shaped "Field of Energy" grows in size around her. The longer you hold the bigger to "Field of Energy" up to a certain size.

2)Release the cast sign button->Ciri will teleport to the back of an enemy and hit from behind. She will make it three times, all 3 sword hits are critical damage and it's automatic, you have no control of her while she does all the teleports and backstabs. Enemies are picked from the ones inside the "Field of Energy" and sorted by distance to Ciri, since she always will teleport and hit 3 times sequences can be(by distance to Ciri in ascending order):

A) 1st>2nd>3rd
B)1st>2nd>1st
C)3 times the only enemy in the "Field of Energy"

This also will cost all Ciri's energy(the blue bar near her health)

DODGE(short range teleport)

You just press the dodge button. Ciri will teleport a short distance in the direction she's facing.

I think the OP is talking about the Blink skill and not the dodge and in my first post I was refering to what I and the game seems to call Blink as it appears in Ciri's skill overlay, but to my understanding, BuzzardBee, you seem to be talking about what I call(has no name in-game) short range teleport, aka DODGE.

I'm getting right?

Quite right Damián. After playing the Whoreson Junior part a few times and trying to use Blink I always got hit by the first enemy coming towards me with him striking the space I started the Blink although visually I'm no longer there. Then it's really inconsistent with enemies actually starting to strike as soon as the blue light effects show up next to them shoving where the next tele-attack is coming. Which leads me to take damage. Got killed a few times before regaining control.

Blink IS her dodge move. She doesn't have the same dodge move that Geralt has. It uses the same key bind but it acts as Blink so well done reading the damn tutorial AND what I wrote.

And Damian is incorrect about a few things but good luck following his advice.

Ungrateful ba$tard.

You wrote ALL THAT and don't even know what you're talking about
