Letho bug/withcer 2 import fail, any way to fix this?

Hello! As for some background; I have played witcher 3 all the way trhough once before and in that playtrhough I had killed letho in the witcher 2 hence he was not alive in withcer 3. I replayed the witcher 2 a couple of months ago and spared letho, and now I wanted to do another playtrough of withcer 3 where I do choices and quests I did not do in my previous playthrough, and doing the letho quest was one of the things i looked forward to the most.

Now I am almost level 20 on this playthrough and I decided to look up how to encounter letho, the thing is I had already been to the homestead in which he is supposed to be and there were only wraiths. I read that if Letho is alive he would be there and if he was dead there would be wraiths. This means that for some reason my witcher 2 savegame import had failed.

Im 100% sure I choose import save, and im 100% sure i choose the last save which should be the right one where i had finished the game and spared letho. I do realize that maybe I should have chosen to simulate the witcher 2 choises instead, because importing isnt as reliable apparantly.

Since Im already 40 hours into this playthrough I refuse to restart the game for obvious reasons, so im guessing im screwed. I don't have high hopes but I was wondering if there was some way to change the witcher 2 choices mid game? Or maybe some way to force-start the letho quest even though he is supposedly dead?

I was thinking that maybe there was a way to edit my save files with some editor or something? or maybe it could be done with the console? If anyone knows a way it could be done I would certainly appreciate it a lot. And ofcourse if it is simply impossible i would appreciate that information as well :)

Selecting to import your own Witcher 2 save will automatically fill in the choices with those you made in the previous game (This option is only available if your saved game file is in the correct location: "Users > [username] > My Documents > Witcher 2 > gamesaves" before launching the game).

If the import still failed you may check this

Yeah Ive come to terms with the import having failed either by me doing something wrong or the game messing up. The thread you linked looks very promising I will look into it. Thank you!
