What to spend skill points on.
So Gandalf has traversed into the Witcher world and he does not know what to spend his skill points on. I currently have 1 in quick attacks and 7 skill points available, what should I spend them on that will help me. Thank you. I plan on 100% this game.

Hardly I could say. What kind of build do you intend to do? Magic, sword damage? Like defensive style or offensive? Type of preferred armor?

Then my suggestion is do your own tests and determine what you like.

I'm not entitled to tell you how to play even before you know what this is about. There's no specific way to play this, it's an RPG, you build the style you like the most among the skill trees that are offered.

Don't worry about mistakes. You can redistribute skill points anytime you want by buying "Clearing Potion" in certain alchemists NPCs for 1000 crowns.

Axii
You do need to upgrade it to actually use it in dialogues and to make allies though

Axii.

Normal mode it stuns the enemy. Alternate the affected enemy becomes your ally for some seconds.
Outside battle if you have delusion skill can unlock optional dialog routes(they will be displayed always) in which Geralt will mind control the person who he's speaking to.

I think the overwhelming majority of people will invest mostly in fast attacks, and heavy attacks, and their tier 2 counterparts.

A point in Light Armour for example is worthwhile, or whatever style of armour you choose to wear, but Cat is best for sword usage I think.

There's one you can invest in that makes food last 20 mins - but you you won't need that so much until you get used to the game, and play on hard difficulty.

As has been said, Axii for the extra dialogue and pursausation is worth it, as is Quen.

Red Chromosomes are pretty rare, but you'll find them eventually.

Some say don't 'waste' money crafting - but I think that's bad advice. Untill you start getting really good weapons and armour - like Mastercrafted, it's pretty cheap. You might well be able to get a 160 sword crafted for just a few Crowns, when they one you have is only 100 damage.

Like other people said. Axii, Quen, fast attack. Personally I like light armor skills for the improved critical hit damage. Axii is actually very powerful when upgraded for its ability to paralyze enemies.

I would not specialize too much with signs, it's fun to use different types of magic.

Later on, adrenaline points become very useful. You can them to cast signs and they increase damage.
There's really no wrong answer here. As has already mentioned, later in the game you will have the option to re-apply your skill points for 1,000 crowns (seems like a lot now, but after 30 hours or so in, it won't be).

In all the Witcher titles, I've gone with a more balanced approach, but leaned a little more heavily toward sword play. I also tend to start and keep the game on the higher difficulty settings. 50% swords, 25% magic and 25% alchemy is an excellent way to be prepared for just about everything that comes your way, and gives you plenty of options to keep you from getting bored.

That said, alchemy in Witcher 3 is more useless than in either of the two previous titles, so I eventually found myself more 60/30, swords/ magic. I also favored heavy armor. It looks good, gives great health bonuses and makes those heavy attacks really deal some damage.
