Does the quest "Turn and Face the Strange" from BaW show up again in NG+?
Thank you
From my perspective, at least you start NG+ with a lot of potions and bombs from the start, you also have all the money you ended with it. You also start with a bunch of skills rather than nothing, you have all the slots enable so you can play with a different style right from the begining instead of having to unlock all the slots before you can actually try a different combination.
Sure the game is not really easier in NG+, neither is it harder, what NG+ gives you is convenience, already start with good equipment and a ton of crafting materials, potions and money, oh and you also very likely have by that point an increased inventory limit.
I'm not sure why you say that offered nothing of value. What exactly would be your ideal way of giving a new game + for a open world RPG like witcher 3?
I agree with you. I'm looking forward to playing NG+ -- I've already done two different playthroughs at different difficulty levels, but both starting from scratch, and it was interesting to see how the progression for both was different, and the game had a different feel for both.
Now, NG+ with all the extra stuff I acquired will certainly make me do things in a very different way -- and I'm also doing it at Deathmarch difficulty: that first fight with the ghouls was a lot of fun (just started it today).
My question above was strictly out of curiosity of what to expect from the quest I mention, since it does add something significant to the game, and was simply wondering whether it changed anything in NG+. It doesn't, but it's still OK.
I may do a mod to alter the NG+ version of the quest. I know there's a mod that adds more "boxes" for your skills, but I haven't tried it because I believe it would make the game too easy; however, a mod to add even more extra slots for skills as a result of the NG+ version of "Turn and Face the Strange" seems more natural. I'll see if it's possible to do that
No problem. I figured as much by what you wrote.
I don't understand why so many complain about NG+. I like it: it's a different take on the same game. You expect a lot of things to be the same, but the experience of playing it will certainly be different.
There is reason why in some big open world rpg games that have mod support, some people create mods that enable a fast start, so that you can skip the "boring for some, ejoyable for others" begining part of the game where you are basically trying to survive and gather resources to get better equipment and better skills.
For example, and i only have my own experience to back it up of course, on my first playthrough i couldn't do certain stuff because i didn't have the right equipment, no bombs, so i couldn't destroy nests, no potions because i didn't have the ingredients nor the diagrams, my armor was pretty bad so i had to use what i was looting (which looked awful). I also had a crippling lack of money to buy stuff from merchants.
Now i can see how all of those reason can be good things, some people prefer to have that sort of stuff to slow them down in the game, it gives them more challenge, and that can be translate into a better enjoyment, but to some other me people (me included) prefer to have a headstart so that they can go and do more stuff more quickly rather than having to search and grind resources in order to do things.
As i said, the fact that you start with all slots enable by the default is very convenient which is appealing to me, i can from the very begining of the game experiment with a different play style than what i used when i played it for the first time, that is appealing especially considering that i didn't like the slot system in the first place, but that's subjective.
And that comes to the core of the issue for me, NG+ is very subjective, it can make the game more enjoyable for some, or it can be a waste of time for others, so if you don't see any other way of implementing a better NG+, my question would be, why are you so against the developers giving players an option on how each player enjoyes their singleplayer game?
I understand you have your opinion, but this thread was about something else. It is also VERY old -- until today, the last reply was in December 2016 -- I'm the OP, and I got my answer a long time ago. I am not arguing for or against your point of view, since this is not the place for it. If you want to complain about the game, of course you are entitled to start your own thread.
That was about a year and a half ago! Both the post to which you were answering, and my question. Yes, there are people playing the game for the first time, but you are not a new player -- you've been around giving your opinions elsewhere: I've been aware of you for a while now, and I know you are opinionated. I don't see anything wrong with that, but as I stated: this is NOT the place for the discussion you were continuing after so long.
Oh, and my question -- you acknowledge it is my question, hence you see me here answering you -- was on a very narrow aspect of the game, which has been more than fully answered since. And you assume too much about what I have or have not researched. I am starting to suspect you are just trolling. Hopefully I'm wrong about that, but I guess I will see for myself in a short while.
The year and a half delay is kind of funny, though. Necromancers, these days. Note, I did not intend to derail OP's thread by making this comment. I'm debating doing NG+ myself, but it sort of seems pointless to me.
We can start a new thread, if you like -- that way BuzzardBee can give opinions til he's satisfied. I have no problem with that, and have my own opinions on the matter
Hahahaha -- you live up to your reputation: you are a grouch. Come on, lighten up. Maybe I was too harsh in what I said, and I apologize for that.
But it's just that I like to keep threads orderly -- every time I do a search when I have a problem with a game, having to go through threads that have almost nothing to do with whatever thing I want to resolve is very frustrating and time consuming, especially when there's only a marginal comment about my problem in a thread whose subject is different; or the title is relevant and the thread got derailed or hijacked.
It's very annoying, and that's why you will very rarely see me replying in other people's threads unless the subject matches the post I make. That is also why I insist to keep things as smooth as possible in whatever threads I start. It's not personal -- I treat everyone the same, but I do apologize for being somewhat overzealous.
And "little camper" -- hahaha, thank you, that made me chuckle. I'm actually an old geezer who just happens to like some video games, there hasn't been anything little about me in decades.
It's a forum, don't subscribe to anything, don't get notification when is answered, is not important. If you are there following the forum and you read it fine, if not no kittens dead.
I don't see any reason to subscribe to a thread here, is not important enough for me to accept the disturbance. Notifications are for urgent things...
I also wonder where he got the skill to answer to posts with a lot of delay and digging them back up. Because he always does it when he was arguing with someone, not randomly. It's curious.
