Stuck on an infinite loading screen

so i just started the game and i got to do a side quest to retrieve this lockbox alongside the swamp. i told the guy he was lieing about it. then after the convo it goes to a loading screen then it just hangs up.

Any idea. tried rebooting.

any mods, trainers etc being used?

i ask because you are going have to chase after that guy on your horse. if you have any mods that affects ...(um effects? not sure what word is correct here) the horse stamina might be causing it.

nope fresh install of the game last night. no mods whatso ever.

Having this same exact problem. By mods, do you mean equipment? I've got an advanced saddle on Roach.

thinking i'm having the same problem, yet, just as i was writing this, the loading finished. took about 5 minutes while starting the game takes about 10 seconds...
btw i was instantly dead.

Having the same issue with Precious Cargo. I made a save right before talking to the merchant, after finding the box, in case I was unable to catch up to him (played the game originally on the Xbone so I knew the quest). Sure enough, I failed the first time (which DID load correctly after about 15 seconds), because I got turned around looking for Roach (lol!).

So, as predicted, I loaded from that save, spoke to the merchant again but then got stuck on the loading screen. I only let it run for about 2 minutes before I Ended Task on the game. I will be trying again, but I am just about to head out. Would be curious to know if this is a known issue and what - if any - solutions are to it, ishould it happens again.

BTW, no mods installed, and the game has run smooth up until this "quirk". Thanks for anyone who responds. Happy New Year! ;)

I have the same issue, I did precious cargo without a problem but I did another quest where I have to find a hunter's wife. I'm stuck on the loading screen.

Hi. I came across the issue after moving the merchant's horse far from where he is. My suspicion is that the game is trying to find a nearby horse that the merchant can ride on and attempt to ride on it. Reloading to an earlier save I made before I moved his horse meant to be used for his escape fixed the infinite loading screen.

I highly recommend fixing this issue asap so that people who haven't saved doesn't have to repeat their progress up until this point

The issue with precious cargo is still going strong. With all of the latest community patches as well :\
