Well, the best equipment are sets of witcher's gear, other items might not be as good (except when you're under lvl 13 or 15 - then there are few chances that some item will be 'better' than any school gear).

Which is your mistake to make. The relics are good for the abilities, not -8 or +18 damage, since its not whats going to win you the fight.

That sword in particular doesn't carry much out of the ordinary, still has fire damage to make up for "-8" issues, and ++ to igni intensity, which can be the difference between igniting enemies, or not achieving much of anything with the sign.

You'll be passing plenty good swords just looking at their damage rating.

there is one way to have all weapons and gear the same level and that is to be level 100. i was actualy gonna get to level 100 to compare all the weapons at level 100 to see wich one is the best but you have to basicly beat the game 2 times to get to 100 then reach the end of the game on a 3rd playthrough to compare them all. would be interesting to see how good the immantaller is at level 100.

By the way, when you're looking at an item and you see a negative stat, it's in comparison to what you already have equipped. It doesn't mean it actually provides a negative stat. It's that this particular sword will do 8 less damage than what you currently are using.
he just needs to get to level 100 so he can wear any armor or weapon he chooses and not be too weak to kill anything cause after starting new game + at level 100 basicly makes every piece of gear in the game max level no matter what it is. even a crappy mace that one of whoreson juniors henchman drops would be level 100.
