XBox 360 Controller not working ANYMORE
Hey Guys,
i'm using two XBox 360 controller on my PC. They are wireless, i have an USB-adapter. So i played many games with them, sometimes using both in COOP-mode, never had problems. I used them on my Windows 8 Laptop, on my Windows 7 PC and my Windows 10 PC. Newer days i use them to play Witcher 3 on my Windows 7 PC, streaming the game from my Windows 10 PC. There was never a Problem.

Then, on September 18th 2017 using the streaming setup, the controller wasnt recognized in the Witcher 3 game. After restarting the game 3 times the controller worked again. I played 30min then quit. And installed Windows 7 updates. On September 19th 2017 i tried to play again, but the game did not recognize the controller.
In other game like Sonic Allstars Racing the controller works fine. I changed USB ports for the Adapter, still didnt work in Witcher 3. I cant skip the intro with the controller, just with the keybord. I can use the D-Pad and A and B of the Controller in the Menu. When i load the game there are only a few buttons working, but the keybindings are changed. As example RB opens the map/inventory menu like "start" button usually does. Sticks are no longer for moving, Left stick up and down changes the Sign, that is currently set to quick use.

I deinstalled the Windows 7 updates. Didnt help.

I plugged the Adapter directly to my Windows 10 PC and started the game. And the controller worked fine. So to me it seems like a Windows 7 problem. Quentions are:
Why did it work fine 3 days ago on my Windows 7 PC?
And why does the controller work fine for every other game exept Witcher 3 on my Windows 7 PC?

I already read the discussion from this link and tried some things, nothing worked.

I shut down steam overlay, geforce overlay wasnt active. Didnt fix it.
I reconnected the controller.
I changed USB-Port.

I really dont know what to do. And i cant find any help on existing forum posts on the internet.

Glad for help

I know this is 2 years late but I had the same problem. In Steam, go Steam -> Settings. Then click "Controller," and then click "General Controller Settings." This opens a new window in Steam Big Picture, showing options for controllers. Make sure you have selected the option for the type of controller you are using. At the time of writing, there is support for PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch Pro controllers.

BUNKY, you're a life saver! This needs pinning.

Hey BUNKY, thanks for your response. I don't have the setup right now anymore to test it. But i think i tested what you descipe. But i'm not quiete sure if these options were already available when my problem occurred. There were some options to calibrate different cotroller, though.
But more like the Steam Controller and X-Box Controller.
