The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Statistiche:
Djinn : Enemy upscaling + death march
So i heard many ppl saying that there are 2 stages in the game that enemy upscaling is broken, the rats from triss quest, and the djinn from yen's quest, surprisingly the rats werent a problem at all, i just killed them all in almost 5 seconds with 2 or 3 bombs with aoe dmg...

but the djinn.....

WOAH!, already killed me like 30 times, im getting mad and i really want to avoid turning upscaling off (i did it for testing and i killed it in like 5 hits) cos it feels like cheating, is there a way i should try to defeat such an enemy ? im lvl 23 with ursine gear doing completionist so i have everything maxed as far as i can tell, even the oils. My build is heavy attacks, queen plus igni, and starting with alchemy (still dont have protective coating)

The thing kills me in 1 hit even with quen up, i really dont get it, i hit the bastard for 500 or so with fast attack and 1200 or so with heavy.

Advice ?

I actually like that the enemy up scaling made the djinn that way more of a challenge. But I'm always way higher then lvl 23 by that time. I usually leave novigrad for Skelliga at level 22-24. Usually im lvl 28 or 29 when I fight the djinn. And my quen works and negate all the damage by a single hit and I can survive 1 hit without quen but I have to take a potion quick. Because I wouldn't survive another hit. It does usually take multiple tries though. like 2-4. I have beaten him on the first try once.
Level 20. 'downscaled the so called Djinn. The Djinn went down. I'm the Witcher.

Think of it this way then. The Enemy Level Upscaling is a cheat itself since it was not part of the original game and only added later on with a patch when numerous people complained about how ridiculously easy Death March was mid- to late-game. It is a cheat in that it alters gameplay from what is normal without it.

So, think about whether you really want to suffer through a fight with a monster that has become glitched due to a cheat that was poorly coded or you simply want to turn the damn thing off, kill it and then turn it back on again.

Up to you. I suppose it really depends on just how much of a masochist you are. The glitch by the way is not that it makes them super difficult to defeat. It makes them impossible to defeat due to their invincibility. The only way to beat them without turning off the cheat is to cheat again by using the debug console to kill it.

Thats exactly what happened, i started over because the game was absurdly easy even on deathmarch and doing a blind playthrough (even with a somewhat gimped build, roleplaying purposes), i did it tho, it took me like 2 hours of trying, saving inside the boat (that was helpfull).
The rats are easy. Drop poison and fire bombs somewhere and roll around there so the rats slowly die. (Triss' quest isnt the only one. You can hit a rat on accident when you do the quest for Keira Metz in the tower)
The Djinn thou, I just got there on Death March and am trying to do it without turning off upscaling. Will post results later.
There are other enemies that are made incredibly difficult by upscaling. If you're playing Hearts of Stone Olgierd in front of the house can take millions of hits to bring down. I turned off upscaling and lo and behold, decent damage

Ni, the Djinn is not invincible, pull that out of your head BuzzardBee. You make damage to it and eventually falls. Is just abnormally hard for the average difficulty of the game and this is flaw, obviously, but unlike invincible enemies is not game breaking.

Tips for beating the Djinn...well there's only two or three.

A) Need a build with 10k or around of HP, so for level 20 probably most skill points should be in alchemy tree.

B)Elemental, elemental and more elemental resistance. You have ursine, a witcher set, that's good. Also there's a decotion that increases resistances, don't remember the name, but each hit you get it gives you a 1% to all resistances up to +25%. Pierce and bludgeoning resistances are also good for the attack in which throws ice shards to you.

C) Only left is learning to dodge it the best possible. Meeting A) and B) may grant you 3 hits before kissing the ground and everything you can heal yourself in mid battle. It has 3 behaviors: Default, then below 50% HP starts teleporting frequently, a skill that does damage, and increases cast spell frequency and finally below 25% HP it cast spells almost constantly.

That's why they added it to the game, after so many complaints about how easy even Death March was to play.

But some monsters do become invincible, impossible to kill without turning upscaling off. That was not by design. That's yet another of the game's many flaws.

Lol i remember you bashing on this game since i was playing witcher 1, i see you still do it, you need to get a room with cdprojekt and make up things ;).
Hello, is me! being onehit kill, even with Quen active :(

I do a second playthrough of the game now, and I can confirm that the djinn IS INVINCIBLE (I am able to land a couple of blows to the djinn before it kills me, but its health bar doesn't change a bit). You have to turn the upscaling off to defeat it.
its pretty easy if u use your bomb(the one that cancels the magic) vs the djinn

Omfg, dude, do you even read the thread you're commenting?

EDIT: I'll try to explain why all this is so confusing for many. There are actually two upscaling related bugs, connected to the same events in the game (the rats in "Now or Never" and the djinn in "The Last Wish").

The first one turns the enemies extremely powerful and almost impossible to defeat. "Almost" means that it's actually possible, but really, really hard, unjustifiably difficult (which is why it's a bug, not a feature)

The second one makes those enemies invincible. THEY TAKE NO DAMAGE AT ALL. If you google it, you'll find that some people reported it on different forums, and often got mocked by those who encountered the first bug only. There's even a thread on this forum, read it:

EDIT 2: I used the dimeritium bomb on the djinn, used several potions (and already had my ursine set), but the blows I managed to land didn't do any damage whatsoever. And then I got oneshotted with my quen on.

So this might be YEARS late but... I was able to do this without any mods, on deathmarch and upscaling, at lvl 24. Hilariously, my usually op quick attack and alch build is pretty irrelevant, as every source of damage from the djinn one shots me (7.7khp with the 3 optimal damage resist decoctions active).

Basically, engage the djinn always with quen active, and land about 3 or 4 hits. Then roll or just run to the nearest exit to the main deck (either the staircase to the lower deck, or the cabin at the stern of the ship) making sure to break line-of-sight of the djinn (it will not follow you outside the main deck.) After about 10 seconds, the combat will end (the djinn's hp will not reset) and you can save. Save; then reengage the djinn (quick attacks will interrupt most of its abilities, but a roll to engage and negate the initial damage of whatever attack its using will allow you to get a few attacks off before it breaks quen, after which you need to roll/run and hide to reset the strat.)

Not gonna lie; took me the better part of an hour and about 30 saves/reloads, but it is possible without lowering the difficulty!

*Facepalm* So, people don't know how to read.

Can you provide a strategy to kill an invincible rat too? (1:45 for the invincible one)

Most rats take two hits, this one doesn't take damage at all.
